I remember(possibly incorrectly) when I was a kid, we had a timeshare in Jensen Beach, FL. There is a museum/turtle refuge right on the ocean near there. I kind of remember an old steel lighthouse right there. However, it doesn't show up on any of the websites like lighthousefriends.com or Cape Cod's site. Am I remembering wrong? Or was there a lighthouse there, but got washed away by a hurricane? If its there, I definately will include it on my trip next month. If not, I will simply deny all knowledge of the existance of this post, and kind of slide off hoping that no one notices...Kind of like a cat when he is running full speed, and crashes into a glass door.

There is nothing about this lighthouse in any of my "official" government department guides, either presently or historically. Did some checking into a couple of other "unofficial" sources as well, but could find no mention or photo of any lighthouse in Jensen Beach or Port St Lucie. Perhaps it is a "faux" lighthouse built by one of the real estate companies, i. e. Hilton Head, as there is mention of a Lighthouse Point vacation development in the area.

Lighthouse Point, Fl which is right next to Jensen Beach FL on the map was named Lighthouse Point because of Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse which happens to be 75 miles to the South. Maybe you are remembering a trip to Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse which could be termed an old steel lighthouse.. www.hillsborolighthouse.org

No, it wasn't Hillsboro Inlet. I've never been there (But that will change in about a month and a half) I be remembering an old water tower or some other kind of similar structure. But, I was pretty sure it was an old lighthouse. Oh well.

That may be it! It looks really famalliar. But, the place I'm remembering did have a couple outdoor tanks where injured and baby loggerhead turtles were nursed back to health. Of course I may be thinking about 2 seperate places. I'm pretty sure I have been to the House of Refuge though.
