Celebration of the transfer of Bodie Island's 1st Order Fresnel Lens takes place April 25 at 2p.m.!

In an official ceremony, The Coast Guard will transfer title of the lens to the National Park Service which already owns the tower, buildings and land.

The NPS will partner with the Outer Banks Lighthouse Society as they will work together to maintain the lens. But first, the magnificant 1st Fresnel is in need of restoration, and a major fundraising campaign is underway to save this lens.

U.S. Cellular will be in attendance at the celebration, and will present OBLHS with a substancial check towards this effort. This money was raised during the last year under U.S. Cellular's C.A.R.E. campaign.
