The park or an organization needs to set up a fund so that people can send donations to get this light reopened!

At Hunting Island Lighthouse...eight cracked iron steps have been found to need repair, so park officials will seek a structural report to find out if there's other damage that needs to be addressed. They won't begin work on the stairs until they have a full report.

Preliminary reports estimate it will cost around $60,000 to repair the stairs. The money is not in the Park's budget...so they will be seeking funds from private sectors.

How long will the lighthouse be closed? Could be awhile. frown
