Thanks, for the link Bryan. I would love to see Bodie Island lighthouse restored. This light has always been special to me as it was the first lightouse I ever saw. (I used to live in Kill Devil Hills as a child)

Bryan, thanks for the link to the piece on surveying Bodie Island. It too is a favorite of mine! In some senses, I've been extremely fortunate having at least gotten to photograph once inside the base of the lighthouse, which is only infrequently open for visitors. One of my photos is attached. This shot was taken on Fuji Provia 400 slide film and then desaturated to black and white in Photoshop. I've always gotten richer blacks that way than I ever get form B&W film, but maybe that's just me.

Nice photo Gary, did you happen to take a picture of the "corner stone" inside the lighthouse? It's really interesting, because the original name of the lighthouse was "Bodys Island." Not Bodie as we call it today.

I think I have a photo of the cornerstone, but finding it among about 10,000 lighthouse slides could take me a while!

Thanks for the link Bryan. I there about a year ago and would love to see that tower restored. My favorites are usually the tall towers.
