This month we celebrate the 200th birthday of the Cape Hatteras Light Station.

Suppose you could leave a message for the future about lighthouses...to be opened 100 years from now.

What would you say?

On October 18th, for those of you attending The Keeper's Weekend, you'll have an opportunity to write your thoughts about what lighthouses mean to you in a book or simply sign your name for folks to read 100 years from now.

The book will not be buried in a time capsule that day, because the Park Service has to do an environmental study, "everytime they dig a hole".

But the book will be stored in a museum in a temperature controlled climate, until such time that it can be placed in a Time Capsule.

If you can't attend, write your comments here. We plan to select some of these to be placed in the book, and/or possibly read as part of the ceremony honoring 200 years of light at the Cape Hatteras Light Station.

The book will be opened again on October 18th, 2103!

Great idea Judy. I'll have use all of that time driving down to the Outer Banks to think of something for the book. Time to put that thinkin' cap on.
