Only four are reachable from land by walking. The others may get takers but I doubt it.

Michigan City's probably going to go to Michigan City. Then, I'm betting they'll do the same thing they do with the Old light, having the Historical Society maintain it. A nice 1-2 punch for lighthousers.

Whaleback Ledge will probably have an ALF bid. Unless there's another, better, group for it, they'll probably get it. Although I've had my thoughts on ALF in the past, nobody can doubt that they'd be the absolute best caretakers for the light. They've already shown it with other lights, especially in New England, and I know they'd be able to do it again. Just don't send me so much mail about it.

Bellvue will probably have DRBLHF involvement. Again, they'd be the utmost best stewards. But otherwise, it's not really the kind of light I see getting big bids. Thing is, if it goes to sale, it might get bought by the landfill it sits on, which could tear it down.

Duluth...maybe some historical thing there. It's got a bit of tourist potential.

Beyond that...a bunch of sparkplugs...great lights, but the toughest for tourist potential. Note how the first lights were the big, famous towers; now we're getting more into the Wacko fodder.

Will be interesting to see what goes on here, though. At least I see nothing with Currituck potential.

Let me give you a hint about Michigan City - they have absolutely NO concept of the value of their lighthouses to tourism. And they use the East Pier Light as part of their city seal. . . . We were told of an incident where a person wanting to visit the Old MC Light asked a city cop where the light was and the cop had no idea. What you need to understand here is (1) the light is in a very large city park, probably their largest one, with the pier light at the other side of the park (2) the police station sits a few hundred feet from the entrance to the park. Doesn't give you a lot of confidence in the ability of their cops.

Any chance the Hoosier Lighthousing Club would put in a proposal?
