Hi All, A couple months ago some of you showed some interest in getting to Cape Romain Lighthouse and Georgetown Lighthouse. Both of these lighthouses are only accessible by boat. I have got a tour set up for the 19th of October. The boat can only accomodate 10 people and the cost will be cheaper to each participant if we can fill it up. If you are interested please post it here as soon as possible and either Derith or myself we be in touch with you with the rest of the details. This will be an all day outing, morning to early evening should be expected. You will need to pack lunch, water, snacks and the usual sun/rain gear. This trip will be in a large open John Boat, and depending on tide and weather we will land at the Georgetown Lighthouse, to land at Cape Romain you will need a good set of rubber boots or hip waders. There will be "NO" bathroom facilities available thoughout the day. Our guide is a well known local character and there will be one Retired Coastie along as well to insure your safety. If your interested and equipped to land at Cape Romain let me know so I can have a head count for that as well. This is a rare opportunity so don't miss it!

Hope my name is already on the list. Where is the "hop on the boat" location. I will have to drive up and need to gauge my time. More than likely I will leave Friday around noon. Let me know Sean. I'll work on getting some boots. Derith

We will be departing from a boat landing called the "Poll Yard". It is located on the North Santee River at the foot of the bridge on Highway 17. It is directly across from Hopsewee Plantation. That would be roughly 10 miles South of Georgetown. If you have the time you should plan on visiting the Plantation as well. It is the birthplace of Thomas Lynch, Jr., one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence.
Currently I have a total of 4 going, I would like to get at least 6 more so we can bring the cost down. In about 2 weeks I will advertise this trip outside the Forums so If your thinking about it let me know soon.

Wrong weekend for me. I would almost kill for the opatunity to join you. But I already have obligated myself to help out at Cedar Key Lighthouse, FL that weekend. Heck the whole month of Oct. is full on my calendar! But if you, or anyone else, ever plan to do this again sometime. Please let me be on that list! Sorry I can't go this time. Stephanie

Hi Randy, You are now. That leaves us with one remaining seat. After that I will put those that wish to attend on a waiting list in case someone is unable to attend.
One to go! If your thinking about it let me know soon.
Thanks,
Sean

Thanks for setting this up Sean! I hope my plans don't change! I've been looking forward to seeing these two lights for years! We took an airplane flight over both of them back in 1993, but it's not like seeing them upclose and personal!!!!

I still have one seat available. If Randy or some of the Florida crowd can't make it I will need alternates so please let me know as soon as possible if you want to go and update me as soon as possible if you can't make it so others are able to go. Once I have the magic number of 8 confirmed I will send out email to everyone with the final cost and details. If you need Hotel recommendations email me. Some are staying at the Hampton Inn in Georgetown, beautiful view of Winyah Bay and next to a great seafood restaraunt.

Boy oh Boy! What a busy month October is for Lighthouse Lovers! Here in Florida we have an Open House for the Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse on October 5th; the Florida Lighthouse Association (FLA) Meeting on October 12th along with a private tour of the Sanibel Island Lighthouse; October 13th is an Open House for the Port Boca Grande Lighthouse for the FLA members; October 19th & 20th is the Open House (Open to everyone)for the Cedar Key Lighthouse (Hosted by the FLA). I would love to take the trip to the SC Lights, but am already scheduled to be at the Cedar Key Lighthouse that weekend. If any one else plans to have a trip to those Lighthouses, my husband and I would love to join you. Thank you - I'll have to catch the next boat out though! BonnieJean

The trip to Georgetown Lighthouse and Cape Romain Lighthouse is now full. I will accept more names and place you on a waiting list. I have several people traveling long distances that may not be able to make it. If you would like to be on the Waiting List let me know ASAP! I will probably host this trip at least twice a year as a service provided by New World Images , I will be setting this trip up in the future as a Photographic Workshop. I will have a trip in the fall and one in the spring. If there is enough interest I can set up an additional one for the forums if your not interested in the Workshop.

Add me to your Spring List also. Photographic Workshop, Educational Workshop - I don't care what it's called - I'll be there! I'll be taking pictures, so Photographic Workshop works for me! We're not sure where my husband will be working, but put us down for two seats and we will be able to tell you for sure the closer we get to the date. Stephanie, maybe we can schedule to meet up and travel together! Let me know. BonnieJean

Anyone heading down from the North? Maybe I can "bum" a ride! If not, it's a 10 hour drive for me and I might be doing it alone!

30 Days and counting! The trip is full with one person on the waiting list. If you are still thinking about coming you better let me know soon. I would still like to have more than one person on the waiting list in case I have cancellations. As it stands now if no one cancels I will make room for the one person on the list.
If you have sent me email I will be sending you the final details in the next couple of days. If you need any kind of information as far as places to stay, eat or things to do let me know. I am going to concentrate on the trip details in my follow up email.
When Where Cost What to wear What to bring etc.
Email to follow.............

I have just received 2 cancellations for the trip to Cape Romain. If you were thinking about this trip now is the time to act! We are just over two weeks away and I will need to make a decision on whether to cancel this trip soon!

I wish I could be there, Sean, but you're just to far away from me. I have too many things going on at work after goofing off most of the summer. "It's time to pay the piper", so to speak. I hope someone from the area or passing through jumps on the boat with you guys. Bob

I can't believe someone in our group hasn't posted anything about our trip yet! It has been over a week now. It was fantastic! It will take me awhile to type it all out! Hopefully tomorrow I will have time to give all the details - unless one of the others wants to!!! It was quite the adventure - one we will never forget!
