On Saturday, November 2, 2002, Havre de Grace, MD will be celebrating the 175th (!!!) anniversary of the Concord Point Lighthouse.

The day will begin with a wreath laying at the Angel Hill Cemetery (burial place of both John Donohoo, the builder, and John O'Neill, the first keeper) at 8am. At 10am there will be a parade followed at 11am by a re-enactment of the appointment of the first keeper by "President John Quincy Adams". From 11:30am-4pm, the light tower and keeper's house will be open and there will be entertainment, period craft demonstrations and vendors, period costume role playing, childrens activities and a silent auction. At dusk (probably about 4:30-5pm), there will be a re-enactment of the 1827 illumination witha candle light vigil and choral music. A festive dinner follows at 7pm. For more information, call 410-939-6112.

I'll probably be there at some point in the day, probably later, to see the lighting.
