I'm shipping an order of Lighthouse Stickers to the Cape May Center for the Arts in Cape May today. They are very enthusiastic about the Lighthouse Stickers and magnets.

If you are on the Challenge and visiting lighthouses, please ASK about Lighthouse Stickers -- then explain it to those who don't know about the project. All 11 of the open lighthouses received a kit from me with example stickers and magnets last week.

So far, only Cape May has placed an order. They WILL HAVE a limited quantity of the complete set of 19 lighthouse stickers for New Jersey. I sure hope they sell out quick.

Individual stickers will be $1 each, strips of 4 Cape May stickers will be $3 and the complete set with a folder to put them in will be $12.

Great idea John. Hope those stickers go quickly!

Will you be bringing any stickers and journals to the Outer Banks?

Yes, Shirin. I'll have some Journals, maybe some passports (hand made) and some freebie special stickers of Cape Hatteras and some Outer Banks sticker sets.

You want a set of NJ ones? I can bring that set too.

Just reading this, an idea came to me...

How about folders for each state, with spots for each sticker in that state's set. You could put the state and flag stickers on the front, and the individual lighthouse stickers inside. This way, people can have a record of each state they visit, with maybe a date slot for date of first visit.

Great minds work alike...

When you buy most of the regional sets (Outer Banks, New Jersey Lighthouses, etc.) you'll get a folder to hold that set. The folders come in three sizes holding either 6, 12, or 18 stickers (+ the cover sticker). They each have the title appropriate to the set "New Jersey Lighthouses", etc.

These will retail for $1 each. However, I'd much rather people purchase a Lighthouse Journal or American Lighthouse Passport rather than the folder, since these publications will hold many more stickers and, hopefully, will encourage them to buy more stickers. laugh

The folders and passport have lines under each sticker square on which you can write in a date. Of course, it would be better to add a new sticker for each subsequent visit. smile

By the way, the Lighthouse Journal now has a UV coating on the covers this protects it from frequent handling. It adds about $1 each to my cost. However, I've lowered the price from $19.75 to $16) for the 50 page Journal. I'll have a number of these to sell at the Cape Hatteras event. Not sure yet where or when I'll be able to show and sell.

In showing these items to some prospective gift shops in Oregon last week, I was asked to provide a display rack for the products. I'm looking into that now. I've found a number of available POP displays on the Internet, but haven't found one that is flexible enough yet. It may be necessary to have one made which would be $$$.

One of the attitudes from retailers is that they want to focus ONLY on 'their lighthouse'. This reminded me of comments from Bill in the past about how a lighthouse gift shop only wanted to carry the HL from their lighthouse. They apparently don't understand that most people don't visit just 'XYZ' lighthouse, but that 'XYZ' is just one of dozens, scores, or hundreds of lighthouses they've been to. Carrying at least the stickers (or HLs) for other nearby lighthouses will benefit them.

Especially when these other lights do not have facilities to purchase stickers, e.g. a gift shop.

Enquiring minds want to know.

John,

I looked for the stickers at Sea Girt, but actually forgot to look for them at Sandy Hook or Navesink.

We didn't make it anywhere else so we didn't see Nancy this year.

John, as you know Robert and I did the challenge. I saw the Cape May stickers and magnets on a display on the counter by the register. The little shop was packed and you could hardly move around in it, let alone try to look at any items. The weather was very cool, no rain, and again, a very tiring trip.
