Since Arkansas is such a lighthouse challenged state, we intend to build one. My boss and I are looking for actual construction plans for a lighthouse in the 30 to 60 foot range. I understand that the plans for existing lighthouses are on file with the National Archives or with the Coast Guard. Can you please give me some direction on how to locate these plans. We have already received mechanical information from Tidewater supply, and funding from several sources, now for the plans.
Thanks for everything.
From Razorback Country, Suzee

Way to go Suzee!

I can't give you a lead on lighthouse blueprints however; I certainly back the idea of more lighthouses.

Each state should have at least 1 (or 50) lighthouse(s).

Hi Suzee,

Lighthouse plans are kept at the College Park branch of the National Archives. I'd suggest looking around at the country's lights, narrowing it down to a few, then contacting the National Archives for plans. Try to pick a post-1852 design. I'm partial to the 1868 Cedar Island, NY light which is similar to the Saugerties, NY light. But that's just me. :-)

In full agreement that every state should have at least one lighthouse. Let us know what model and where you are constructing yours.

While in TN this week formulated a question in my mind as to whether some of the larger rivers in that state every had lighthouses? In the chat on the 2nd, posed the question to Maureen, home office, and hopefully will get an answer soon.
