Interesting article, I didn't realize how many people participate. I hope you have great weather this year!

Good article. Funny though, we never knew of or received completion certificates and we were the 7th & 8th (listed at Sandy Hook) to complete the challenge. confused

I'm not sure if they did the certificate thing last year or not as I was a lighthouse volunteer not a challenge volunteer. I know they did them the first year of the event, I have mine framed somewhere, but you had to sign up on a particular sign in sheet that indicated you went to all 11 lights.

We (four of us) signed the sheet at Finns Point last year. We never saw any certificates, either. I was under the impression that we were supposed to get them, too.

Oh well, we have four complete sets of cards.

Seagirt,

No thanks, I'll be hitting them up for four certificates this year. Our puppy sitter bailed out on us. So its my wife, myself, and two beagles for 450+ miles, 12 lights, in two days. And yes, their names will be on the Completed Challenge List.

One of my personal challenges will be to get both beagles in a "good" shot at each lighthouse. eek

BTW: The Red Roof Inn in Tinton Falls takes dogs!

Robert and I are doing the challenge this year as we want the certificate for completing both the Maryland Challenge and the New Jersey Challenge to add to our accomplishments. We did it in 2001 and have the stickers. I don't recall any certificates, I thought you signed the book so that they could tally how many actually completed the challenge.

Joyce, I'm glad to see your post this morning. It was a huge neon sign that I haven't sent my check to you.

I'm writing it now, & out to the box it goes. It's a good thing my head is attached to my shoulders, because there's been so much to keep track of this week!

Enjoy the Challenge! as I know you will. I hate to miss it, but can look forward to next year.

Many thanks for helping me out.

Judy smile

Good luck with the dogs Joe. I'm sure all will make the challenge just fine. The past 2 years we've had a couple come around with their dogs Tybee and Chatham and they were a hit with all of the volunteers and visitors. Hope to see your doggie photos after your trip.

Yes, It was me. Actaully it was my wife with two beagle, both wearing lighthouse bandanas. I was the one getting the cards, stamps, and filling out forms.

Yes, the four of us completed the challenge.
