Received an email from Bob Trapani, Jr., president of DRBLHF, about the repairs made to the Harbor of Refuge Lighthouse after Isabel.

Infopop Homepage

This is the first time I've tried to add one of these. I hope it works, if not go to the website, then click on preservation, and hurricane repairs.

Joyce,

Thanks for sharing that story with us. I really enjoyed reading about the wonderful work that's being done. Thank God, hurricanes don't come too often.

DRBLHF is definitely doing wonderful things over there. Great group of lighthouse folks too.

And, AMEN, smile I sure hope we're done with hurricanes for this year!

Thanks Joyce!

What a great story! What a dedicated group of people at the DRBLHF who got things done so fast. It goes to show what strength people can muster up in the face of adversity.

The people at the DRBLHF are great people. Robert and I took one of their tours out to the lighthouse in August. I think it was the best lighthouse trip/tour we've ever taken. Going out to a water-based caisson lighthouse, plus they are so enthusiatic they draw you right into their excitement of the lighthouse. If you are planning to be in the area, I would highly recommend trying to plan around one of their tour schedules.

They could also use your help working on the light if you want to spend a day out at the light. Now if only I could work that into my schedule!

I know what you mean, Shirin. Robert and I are signed up for the work crew, but seems some other lighthouse adventure has interferred with our getting up there to help work on it.

That's the same problem I've been having Joyce. It never fails that I already have something planned already the same dates Bob picks for work days. One of these days it will work out, soon I hope.

Who know, Shirin, maybe we will be there scraping, painting, etc. on the same day.

Bob Trapani has a real way with words and the camera. Nicely written.
