Just curious if anyone has been keeping track of the votes (so far) in this topic...it would prove interesting to compare the results to what actually happens in 2003.

Just a thought... (I'd volunteer...but I'm at work right now and my home computer is busted frown )

Bob,

I certainly hope at least one of them comes up. I am anxiously awaiting the news of the first half of 2003 releases.

Larry,

You were right. I did miss one and I've corrected the problem. After a while you go blind trying to read all those posts, but it was fun.

Bert wink

I was just reading this thred from the beginning and noticed one post from Bill:
"I notice the lss keeps cropping up I would like to see the Old Harbor Station originally in Chatham and now at the national seashore park in Provincetown. - Bill O'Brien aka oseabee"

I got to thinking that it would be nice if Harbour Lights came out with this, maybe they could do it in honor of Bill. Just a thought.

Ron, I'm behind you on this one. I really miss Bill, he and I would chat online for hours. I only wish I had the chance to have met him in person. I think we could rally some support for this.

Yes, it is a nice thought to remember Bill, but in all honesty, I just can't picture it happening.
I don't think the Life Saving Stations are all that popular with the HL buying public as compared to lighthouses. I live in Massachusetts and I knew nothing of this particular LSS.

Like all of us, Bill was one of thousands of HL collectors across the country. We were fortunate to have known Bill through the Collector Forums. The vast majority of HL collectors wouldn't recognize his name.

When Bill passed, many of us stepped up to the plate and made a donation in his name. This is now and always will be Bill's memorial from his friends at the CF.

If Harbour Lights chooses to make the Old Harbor Life Saving Station in the future, maybe they could attach a special sticker for those of us who knew Bill through the CF and would remember him each time we looked at that piece. There could be a small charge for the additional sticker and those funds could go directly to the LSS.

Just my thoughts this morning on the East Coast where the temp is in the low teens, there's snow on the ground, and more snow is coming tomorrow. Winter has arrived three weeks earlier than it should.

Maybe HL could place a special card in with the lss. I've seen in many HL boxes the lighthouse will come with an extra special postcard, card, or paper. This extra card could have a small blurb in it about a special collector and fellow lighthouse lover named Bill O'Brien (aka Oseabee). I think the idea of a small donation doing to the station would be great too.

I guess we should't get too worked up about it eihter way, they have to come out with the station before anything else can happen.

Maybe HL should just make the Chatham Lighthouse again, correctly? We seem to have multiple versions of Cape Hatteras and Southeast Block ...

I agree with you, Sue. Chatham Light is a great light that should return as a corrected version limited edition (4000-5500 version).

It is a popular light to visit and I'm sure it would be a good seller.

Well, they have my interest. There are two releases that I have visited, and can go directly into the "visited" display case. It seems to be heavy on the skeletals, and Gone but not forgotten type pieces. But there are still several that I kind of look forward to seeing what they look like. This looks like only the first half of the years releases, and it appears that one needs to brace for an expensive year, as there are several that will tax the budget. Also it looks like I need to consider shelf space, as overall sizes of 8, 9, and 10 inches will take up some space. Although the releases look like a nice group, I'm getting a little concerned about being able to continue purchasing every piece that they release. I will be interested in the comments of other collectors and how they will approach the new releases.

I agree with you Dick,

There is only one that I have visited. Old Mayport (St. Johns River) Since last year I am now only able to buy the ones I have been to. (I may have to break that rule for the new "On the move" piece that actually moves.) If they came out with one a month I could handle that but there sure are a lot for just the first half of the year. Some real nice ones too. Heavy on the Florida Lights because they sell so well I assume. But NO California and only one west coast if I remember right and a GLOW at that. :>( Looks like only one or two will be in my display.

They're announced all at once but there releases are scattered each month. So you'll just have to visit more LHs, Dale? wink I'm still catching up on this year. and the first 11.

I firmly believe that some of the most popular choices (those that got 3 votes or more) will come out next year. If not as a limited edition regular, then as a Christmas or event piece.

Owl's Head, Point Vicente, and Block Island North are very strong possibilities. I just wish my source wouldn't be as cryptic as she is, but all signs point toward these.
