OK. New Year. New Owner. What would you like to see Harbour Lights do differently starting in 2006?

Let's give some positive ideas to Don Devine. We're not looking for your 'wish list' of lighthouses to make -- that's in another thread.

One resolution per person per day, please.

I'd like to see them put out less new pieces every year. I LOVE my Harbour Lights and want them all, that's why I'm on Auto Ship with my dealer! But it is so hard to do when they make so many new ones every year. I think one every other month (6 new pieces a year) would be better. I also emphasis the point every other month! Not 3 and 4 at a time like it has been for the last few years.

I think one lighthouse a month would keep more people interested. It would really be nice to receive a new piece each month rather than three or four every few months. The one a month would generate more interest and keep people in the program.

I would also like to see things that are easily damaged like sailboat masts and flag poles removed. I suppose the flag pole could be optional and the collector could insert it if he or she wanted to.

Get rid of the flashing lights on LE's. Put them on GLOW's if they must, but get them off the LE's. I prefer my LE's without rubber feet.

Introduce some lightning rod pieces. Make them so the consumer can insert the lightning rod so it won't be lost or damaged in shipment. All we need is a small hole in the ventilator ball. Would that be hard to do?

I'm staying on autoship as long as I can keep my same autoship#. If I lose it in the ownership transition, I would probably just buy what I like from that point. Like many of you, I'm just running out of storage and display area.

Happy New Year!

The reunion in 2005 sounded very nice, but was very expensive, that's why I didn't go, and if I had, I would have had to have my younger children watch by Grandma or someone. If they could find a way to have a nice event but cut down the cost.

I have 3 major peeves and I'll list them in the order that I am concerned with:

1. Bring out no more then 12 limited editions a year. That would include the special pieces such as the Society Piece, Christmas Piece, Event Piece, Regional Piece, etc. I will keep buying the limited editions if the amount of issues each year is kept at a reasonable amount.

2. Return the limited editions to the boring way they used to be. No bells, whistles, flashing lights or other animated acessories.

3. Let's have a Reunion in the SOUTH and I don't mean Baltimore. I'm talking the real South like South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, etc. Other then hurricanes during the late summer and early fall, the weather is beautiful.

There are many other things I'd like to see but I will wait to give my opinions after I see how the new command is going to be.

I second Rich's suggestion; there would be boundless opportunities to see so many lights in any of those places.

Fewer LE's would make it easier for those of us who are running out of space and/or can't afford more. No bells and whistles on the LE's, please. They are so beautiful without all the additions - in some instances those just detract from the beautiful detail work.

I agree with a lot of what has already been said.

- Not every piece introduced needs a boat, sailboat, etc.. A lot of times, less is more.

- A number of years ago, I was big on the bandwagon to see flags put on the grounds of the light. Now that this is happening, it looks cheap and detracts from the piece. Either come up with something classier, or just get rid of them.

My biggest concern is with the new flashing lights. I just recieved my first one for Christmas, Marquette, MI, and while I like the lighthouse itself, with the raised base and different looking lantern room, it just does not look right with the rest of my collection. Please, no more flashing lights!

Enough for now, I have already listed more than my allotted on eresolution for the day. smile

I agree with both Margret and rgurskey regarding the Little Lights and the printed copy of the Lighthouse Legacy.

Also, Rich has a good point that 12 issues a year is plenty.

Come to think of it, I must to agree with just about everything that has been said.

No more open editions of anything, shrink the LEs to GLOW size and put out fewer per year...

You said it, Paul. In addition to all the obvious reasons, I don't have space for an LE and the Christmas (or other) version of the same light!
