What is the feeling on the CF to consider doing more of the Life Saving Stations with all the extra goodies included like the "life saving car" and the post for the guide wire on the beach? After seeing a few in New Jersey, I kind of wish that we would be able to revitalize these somehow and raise more awareness by having a LSS collection. I know that 3 of these have been made already...but none in NJ so far! Wishful thinking!

In all honesty, I'm not that fond of the Life Saving Station replicas. I will admit they are very well done and I have one of each but I much rather stick to lighthouses, AB's, and lenses. Another HL release I didn't care for was the Mahota Pagota. I sold that one and will sell the LSS's. I don't display LSS's. Why just keep them in storage? Bob

Point taken...I would most likely collect ones done for NJ LSS as that is where I live and it would have more meaning for me to display, although I would not be against collecting the others outside of NJ at all. If they were made in the size of LLOM series...I might collect more of them as it doesn't take up as much space.
So there lies the dilema...collect to just collect or collect to display?

Bob, I have each piece that HL has made to date and happily display them (and I am not a collector who has everything).
It makes no difference what state it is located in; I would be delighted to see another one offered. Those produced by HL so far are LSS's that have been restored and are open to the public as museums. The history surrounding LSS's and the heroic surfmen is colorful and intriguing, not to mention addicting. It seems like the more I learn about LSS's , the more I want to know.
If I could vote for another HL LSS, I would suggest Seatack LSS at Virginia Beach, VA, another one that is restored and does a tremendous job at teaching the history of LSS's.

I think there should be more Life Saving Stations released by HL. As long as there are depicted as they were in there hayday(spl?).
Maybe HL could separate these from the regular LE's. Sorta like the GLOW's and Anchor Bays. I think a series of LSS would be great. I would buy them.

The docent at the Virginia Beach LLS was excellent. I also like the idea of making some LLOM.

So there lies the dilema...collect to just collect or collect to display? We collect to display. I want to SEE the lovely lighthouses, not hide them in boxes. I also like the idea of making some LLOM. Our sentiments exactly! LLOM are the way to go for us! Th "big ones" take up too much room for our English little house. We do have some, but... And also, the LLOM are more affordable. The price of the bigger ones is prohibitive for us, unless they come reasonable on the "pre-owned" market.

Judy Judy, Addicting is an understatement, especially after you go and find or hunt for a LSS and see one of them! Does that mean that you also have the Anchor Bay vessels to go with the LSS stuff? I have been looking at those too because they help to tell the story around the LSS's. Wish the AB stuff were also offered as LLOM sizes.

I think at least the Chesapeake was offered as a LLOM, Bob. Yes, I do collect the Anchor Bay as well. Judy

Judy Funny...that is the "one and only lightship" that I have visited so far. I have the LLOM of it as well. We seem to be on the same wavelength! What do you think our chances are of having any LSS's made in LLOM size? That seems to be what alot of people are asking for...which isn't such a bad thing either.

I would like collecting the lightsaving stations that I have seen so I think I am going to get Chicamacomico. There is one in Maine on the Kennebec River and it's called the Kennebec River Lifesaving Station. The people on Dave's Maine Tour on the river must have seen that one. I would like Harbour Lights to make that one.

Kay, I believe the one close to the mouth of the Kennebec River is the Popham Beach LSS. Now a bed & breakfast type place.

I would love to see more LSS done. The USLSS is a piece of History that has been forgotten. More HL editions would help the history and legacy of the brave men of the USLSS to live on.
