Good Tuesday Afternoon!

If anyone tells Harry I posted this, I will deny it! If someone does call or write Harry and I find out who the individual is - you will be sorry! "Hell hath no fury like a Director of Sales and Marketing scorned!"

Here is your opportunity to help me! Harry will be here , in about two weeks to begin the formation of the 2009 line. I usually have a list of Rep requests but will not have one for 2009. So I need your help!
I will not go to the Keeper's Forum to read ong lists. If you email me with your recommendations - FOUR to a Collector of Lights you would like to see in our 2009 lineup! I'll do the hommework and research the history and make a presentation!
I need the name of the Lighthouse and the state it is in! Remember NO MORE than FOUR per Collector and it has to be emailed to tconstantino@harbourlights.com and yes, there will be a prize for those whose recommendations become reality!

Remember no more than four and to my office email tconstantino@harbourlights.com

Here is something to consider - this Light(s) has to have universal appeal not just your personal interest but the interest of the collecting community!

I emailed you the following:

(2) -Isle Au Haut, ME (In Acadia National Park, and Bed & Breakfast)
(3) -Egg Rock, ME (Near Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor)
(4) -Bear Island, ME (In Acadia National Park, and Featured in a Winnie Smart Painting)

Thanks for giving us collectors the opportunity!! YEAH.......... wink

If you do take the time to think about this and to send Tony your 4 suggestions, you might include one or two links to show him the light and a little history. One or two sentences about the light might also be helpful, but knowing Tony, brevity will get you a lot of points.

I love this idea!

My four suggestions are:

Rockland Harbor Southwest Light, Me.
Point Cabrillo, Ca.
Heron Neck Light, Me.
Bear Island Light. Me.

I would like to see all these lights, with keeper's houses, done as limited editions.

It is nice to post the four favorites on the Forums. But remember that Tony is only reading the lighthouse list that is sent to him. So if you post here, remember to also send the list to Tony.

What a great idea! Asking for our suggestions!

So here are mine:

Rockwell Lighthouse, AK
Odiak Pharos AK - the northern most lighthouse in the USA and would make a lovely LLOM
Point Cabrillo CA (agree with Kay!!)
Aransas Pass (Lydia Ann), TX

All but one on the West Coast ...!!!!!

Wouldn't I love the job to go photograph the AK lights!!!! ???!!!!!!! YES YES YES ....

(emailed them too and added links to email wink )

I just thought it would be fun if we also posted our preferences here to see how many of us asked
for the same lights.

I initiated an idea last year with Tony. How cool it was to see it become reality. That was the Pacific Coast stamp set (LLOM) that was manufactured along with it's own wooden case.

So go for it. Tony listens and Harbour Lights listens! smile

The Chop lights have been on the asking list for several years now. Maybe their time has come. The society limited and gift is a good idea.

3. Crisp Point U.P., Michigan...beautiful location on Lake Superior with nice restoration work being done

4. Spring Point Ledge , Portland, Maine...nice to go with the other Portland area lighthouses and lots of lighthouse tourists in the area to help with sales

Here's what I suggested to Tony:

1) Bergen Point Light – NJ (Gone but not forgotten)
2) Delaware Breakwater – DE
3) Tinicum – NJ
4) Minnesota Point - MN

If you need a Anchor Bay suggestion:

Barnegat Lightship – NJ

I would have also included the following, but kept it to 4 as requested:

- Any of the Duluth Breakwaters - MN
- Miah Maull Shoal - NJ
- Harbor of Refuge - DE

Wonder if / when we get told which if any of our suggestions have "made it" into the selection.

I for one would be "dead chuffed" if one of mine would get there!

I would assume the earliest we would hear about our suggestions is either late December or next January when the 2009 winter releases are introduced!

Think positive and look at it this way. You have less than a year to wait to get the answer to your question. Then you might really be surprised to find out the one of your choices was planned for 2008 release.

Good Thursday Morning!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

I hope I did acknowledge everyone -I was a bit overwhelmed!

There are seveal voices, I am still waiting to hear from! Dave H. -Rip and Sharon, Paul Brady, no suggestions from the Forum Moderator? Where are you Daniel? Rich Felter? Where are the McBees? Bob Ott?

I guess what I am trying to say, this is an inclusive request, I had a blast reading the eMails! I got some GREAT pictures and some even better links (Thanks, Dave)

I was a bit concerned that there were no recommendations for a lighthouse in the great State of Nebraska! Just kidding!

There is still time!

The rules are simple no more than (4) recommendation adressed to tconstantino@harbourlights.com

On a personal note, I ocassionaly lecture at Saint John's Seminary in Boston. Needless to say our men in training have a difficult time with instructions! Our Collectors followed the rules perfectly!

AJ

PS Can we get spell check?

Those still thinking of ideas and needing a source can refer to This list of USA lighthouses the pink triangles that show which ones were made by Harbour Lights is not up-to-date, however.

I'm rarely accused of conventional thinking. Here are links to the four lights I suggested to Tony. Who knows, new markets? Lots of discussion here about the geographies of these lights? Could happen. Besides, at least a couple of these could use the help that publicity might provide.

Ham's Bluff - US Virgin Islands
http://marinas.com/view/lighthouse/586

Culebrita Island - Puerto Rico
http://marinas.com/view/lighthouse/587

Mona Island - Puerto Rico

Guantanamo Bay - Cuba

Here's mine:

-Cape Poge, MA. Something gives me a "Choppy" feeling, so this could maybe round out the Vineyard. The guylines could be a neat addition, too. http://www.lighthousefriends.com/light.asp?ID=623

-Spring Point Ledge, ME. As mentioned by several on the CF already. HL doesn't seem to have any caissons not retired right now. Also has the "Portland potential" for sales. http://www.springpointlight.org/

-Doubling Point, ME. Representative of the Kennebec River lights...any of the others could hold as much water as a suggestion. http://lighthouse.cc/doubling/

-Point Cabrillo, CA. Beautiful light, great setting. Popular amongst lighthousers and "laypeople." http://www.pointcabrillo.org/

Good Friday Morning!

Thank you still! Keep the recommendations coming!

Looking at my list, I see some "holes":

New York
Oregon
Wisconsin
Michigan
California
Kansas

So, even if you have made your four recommendations, I'll accep additional recommendations from those states!

I know the international Replicas have not sold well, however there are some fascinating Lighthouses - any recommendations?

"All good things must come to and end" ... there is a deadline Tuesday 11 March is when I need your recommendations!

Remember (4) per collector to tconstantino@harbourlights.com

Thanks and enjoy the weekend!

You are probably referring to this lighthouse, Bob?

Sand Point Lighthouse (Eacanaba)

Escanaba, Michigan

The society there has done a great job of restoration... They have a wonderful Museum inside the building including a beautiful Fresnel..

The following are three more Michigan Lighthouses as requested...

Gull Rock Lighthouse
Off Keweenaw Point, Michigan

Copper Harbor Light
Copper Harbor, Michigan

Saginaw River Rear Range Light
Bangor Township, Michigan

For the Forum's very own Firefighter, Todd Shorkey... Todd's been helping on Saginaw's restoration for years..

1. Cape San Blas Florida
A standard skeleton lighthouse with two interesting keeper’s houses. The one has been restored but the other one is in bad shape. I think Harry could take advantage of the rustic looking house and make it look very interesting. The renovated house also is a neat looking building and would add a lot to the figurine. Note the palm trees in pictures which always add character to a lighthouse sculpture.

Cape San Blas Florida

2. Sabine Pass, LA
Lighthouse that looks like a rocket ship from Buck Rodgers.
Sabine Pass, LA

Had a very unusual lighthouse keepers house that is now gone.

3. Aransas Pass (Lydia Ann), TX

4. Southwest Pass Entrance, LA

It would be neat to add a Helicopter on the pad for a L.E.

I sent Tony my wish list - apparently the only one with any suggestions for foreign lights!

St. Mary's - England
St. John's Point - Northern Ireland
Shoreham - England
Le Precheur - Martinique

Dosen't anyone else out there like foreign lights?

Judy,

Your links to Havana Castillo el Morro in Cuba and Haut-fond Prince in Canada do NOT work. Can you correct? Thank You.

Tony had told me that I could not submit any suggestions since I have had the privilege to pick more lights to be made than any other collector. However, since he called me out, here are some suggestions:

Let's start with a somewhat local light for me: Cooper\'s Light . Here is another page

Then there is the "now" version of the lights they place on cribs formerly occupied by classic lights....

Next would have to be the ever popular D9 lights, often referred to as "sewer pipe lights". If Harry feels that there should be a little more color in the light, no problem .

Lastly, how about a series of privies of the USLHS? Many of them on the GL are of very nice brick construction (hence the expression "built like a brick ****house...."). There could be models plain or fancy . I see these as being done more in the LL size.

Don't forget to get your suggestions in to Tony by Tuesday.

Hi Bob,

Here are the links that should open the two lighthouse pics.

Havana Castillo del Morro, Cuba
www.theodora.com/wfb/photos/cuba/cuba_photos_1.html

Haut-fond Prince, Canada
lhdepot.com/database/uniquelighthouse.cfm?value=1967

Hope these work. I put an extra "s" in the lightouse depot link and don't know what happened with the Cuba one. They probably won't pick one from Cuba for obvious reasons but I had to try since my grandmother was from Havana!

I think the Canada link needs a www in front of it.

www.lhdepot.com/database/uniquelighthouse.cfm?value = 1967

Thanks, everybody. I am not very skilled at doing the link thing! What I end up doing is typing the name in and then it takes me to several options and I try them one at a time.

Iknew some of you Forum experts would come to my rescue!

I'm way behind and possibly too late for consideration, but the lights I suggested were:

1) Jones Point, VA
2) Sabine Pass, LA
3) Lydia Ann (Aransas Pass), TX
4) Harbor of Refuge, DE

When it comes to a prize for the person whose light is selected to be produced, I think an Artist Proof or Paint Sample of the light would be a great idea,IMHO.
