Anyone that has visited the memorial, and taken the time to learn it's history, understands that it's original design included being a lighthouse!
It has a revolving beacon atop! Today, this beacon is very functional and significant to the mariners along the coast, and to the small airport nestled just behind it.
I would absolutely love to see Harbour Lights produce a replica of this instrumental tool for navigation, of both water and air!

This definitely would come under the HL HB. Didn't know all the info on The Memorial.

At one time, this was considered. The story I heard is that Kim nixed it because she thought the Memorial was too ugly.

I'd like one!

I would not call it ugly, but it is a little plain. I think a LLOM done in a HB series might be a good idea.

I know I will be alone in this idea but if HL did the memorial in a L.E. maybe put the Wright Brothers plane with it. It sure wouldn't be plain then.

I thought an LE would have a great idea back in 2003 for the 100th anniversary. Not too much Forum enthusiam back then. I know, as a native Tar Heel, I'd buy one for myself and another for each of the kids.

When we visited the area I bought a model about the size of a LLOM and it was only $2.99. The detail is not bad either.

guys, don't forget it is a lighthouse as well!
if not more of one that of "Lady Liberty"
There have been many L.E. peices that are not even lights!
(I guess you can tell I'm partial)
pic of me and my son on the "LIGHT"

some of you metioned that you are buying pieces according to the asthetics! NOW, I know some of you, and a lot of collectors, and most buy for what the piece represents! Heck,,,some of you will take out a 2nd morgauge for that rare/early/low number piece!(of which most are ugly and plain! I mean, look how mis-represented, and out of proportion HATTERAS MOLD 1 is, but, if your like me,,I'd compromise most any principal to obtain! Ya, I know most of you old farts(me to) that have been been doing this for a long time/have just about everything, are more discriminating towards the new stuff!
LIGHT'N UP!(no pun intended) This memorial/light is B-E-A-UUUUTIFUL! I'd cut and paste different shots of it on here,(but, i got spanked for that), go on line and at least, check out the aerial shots of it! You'll fall in love!
Keep in mind, the Wright Brothers flew on the same grounds!

If H.L. can produce boats/balloons/bridges and bell towers, I believe this memorial is worthy of being a limited edition!

Here! Here! You've got the hair on your neck standing on end. Good for you. Keep plugging away. HL's does read and listen to the posts in this Forum. I asked for Bishop and Clerks and voila, there it was. This year I asked for Pomham Rocks, and I see a Rhode Island listed for this year's release. We'll see.

Lady Liberty was the first U.S. lighthouse to have electric lights. Later used by all lighthouses. (One of the reasons they had problems with the lights at first was no one was an expert on how best to use them.)
