This Question is for the longtime collector. Bill H.'s revelation brought this question to mind, along with Bob M. surprising acquisitions in the last two years.

I'm not talking about Coquille or a CH1.

What HL LE do you not have frown , that would surprise us eek that you don't have it, and that a more recent collector might have wink ?

You can put in a recent addition cool or the one you still don't have mad !

Bob

Well, I'll start for those who didn't read about my pending arrival in the Personal Time forum. I've been drooling over Portland Head Light for 7 years now. Did my taxes over the weekend and the refund covered my high bid on Ebay.

I really did feel like an anxious parent-to-be. $590 is a huge chunk of change...thus my elation was mixed with a little, "What...am I nuts??!"

When it arrives and takes its place among my other New England Series lights (only missing SE Block now), I'm sure it'll all be worth it.

Bill, you must take part in NELL's "Benefit on the Block" on August 9th on Block Island.

There will be an original Harbour Lights Block Island LE offered among many other items. The raffles, auction and great food are only part of what is becoming a very significant event in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the move of Southeast Lighthouse. Bill Younger and Harry Hines will be there to help us celebrate.

You could be the proud owner of this original Harbour Lights LE.

Definately Currituck. I saw this light last summer and have been talking about it ever since. They have done such a wonderful job with restoration and the county has really tried to put it to them for their own profit. Anyway, it seams the one with the house it (one of the high points) is very popular and a bit on the high side so I don't have one YET. But I'm still looking.

Seeing we're allowed to post a recent acquisition, mine would be the recent addition of a Rose Island MINI from the 1998 reunion. IT's a toss up who lives closer to Providence between BobM and I, and would you know that I wasn't aware of the reunion and missed going. It's only 12 miles to Providence. Thanks to Rich(flacoastie), I am now the proud owner of one.

I truly miss the "hunt" for HL's to complete my collection. It always was a natural high to find a missing piece on a dealer's shelf for retail.

Once you get them all, that thrill is gone forever. You go into the maintainence mode.

I'm still missing the Coquille River LE. I had an opportunity to purchase one but I couldn't justify spending that kind of money. Maybe some day, but who knows...

I've recently been purchasing a number of LE's that I've wanted for some time.

I'm in the process of getting a Sandy Hook LE. I have the GLOW because I just didn't have the money to justify the purchase.

I'm bidding on some others that are special to me, but were a bit costly.

I'm still working on getting a green water Barnegat. This will complete my green water collection, but, I'm having a hard time justifying the money for Barnegat. I have the blue water version so it's not like I don't have a LE Barnegat. Maybe a trade will come along for it.

I have everything there is to have in my collection except a Black/Green Ball Original Hatteras, a California Made Coquille and a California made Great Captains Island. I have all the variations of the original 38 editions, except for those listed. I just recently purchased 8 paint and counter samples from a collector that was giving up the collecting so I'm pretty happy with what I have and maybe soon to have. This is quite an uplift from wanting the green water Barnegat of 8 years ago.

I still don't have the Barnegat LE in my collection. It's only the closest lighthouse to where I live.

What I wish I had most is not any of the rare or even new HL Lighthouses. No, the thing that I can't believe I don't have and is missing most in my life is my sanity. (If anyone happens to see it around here, could you please let me know where it is?)

I'm leaning towards Carysfort Reef and Alligator Reef, FL because I love the reef lights but if I can't see the footprints in person, I hesitate to buy them...and there are next to no dealers in the Bay Area anymore, let alone one who might have the newer pieces...my collecting flame has been on low pilot for a long time and it is in danger of blowing out...

Rock, Carysfort is a really nice, good sized light! We like it, and we are size conscious. It is a proud 6.5 X 7" tall. Alligator Reef is well done, but it is disappointingly small, and must be separated from the rest of the skeletal lights so it doesn't look silly.

Rock, the Florida Keys Reef Lights Foundation will have a boat trip to Carysfort on December 4th. The day before we will be going to American Shoal, Sand Key and the ruins of Northwest Passage. Both trips will get us close to the lighthouse, however, we are not allowed to climb at this time. For details go to www.reeflights.org look under meeting and events.
