Hey Bob, ...They can start with Race Rock and Cedar Point this year, and I would be happy. An addition of two LI lighthouses a year for the next few years would be a great scenario. I would enjoy adding them to my collection, for sure!

Hello Bob,
Relative to Sands Point, are you talking about the one in the water or the one one land that is being incorperated into a huge home?

Hi Silver Fox,
Sands Point is the one on land. There are two nearby in the water Execution Rocks(HL210 which has been done) and Stepping Stones(closer to Kings Point). Ididn't include the Harbour Light from Long Island that have already been done But since you asked ...
Current Harbour Light Lighthouses
· Montauk Point (1797) HL 143, issued 7/1/94, retired 5/10/95 – issue 5,500
· Fire Island (1826-1858) HL 176, issued 3/1/96, retired 1/28/98 – issue 9,500
· Horton Point (1857) HL205, issued 2/9//98, current – issue 10,000
· Old Field Point (1824 rebuilt 1868) HL707, issued 8/98, retired 12/31/98 – issue 10,000
· Execution Rock (1850 rebuilt 1868) HL210, issued 2/25/98, current – issue 10,000

That is a great idea Bob. I think that HL could start with Race Rock and Eaton's Neck. Plum Island could be a restoration series piece down the line.

I also think that more Long Island lights is a great idea. I would especially like to see Race Rock be one of the next LI lights done by Harbour Lights.

I too would love to see more of the Long Island Lighthouses that I could see some evenings when I lived on the Connecticut shore. Parenthetically Connecticut is part of Long Island Sound too, but we have had some good representation in HL lighthouses, including my personal favorite, Faulkners Island, which is a hard to visit but wonderfully wild place, being four miles from shore. That piece brings back many memories of actually doing tern nesting work on the island.
I'd like to see Plum Island, as that location is very mysterious to me.
We have moved to Maine where we must suffer being exposed to different lights.(I cant wait to get my Seguin, though it doesnt seem to evoke the spirit of the area. It's on a very tall hill, almost inaccessible by hand powered craft, due to treacherous currents at the mouth of the Kennebec River)

Welcome to the Forum Kim. I'm pleased that this subject received your first input. If you want to know more about Plum Island, check out what were doing under the Lighthouse topic.
I'd be interested to hear you're future tries in getting to Seguin?

I'm very excited about the piece. I have to be sure to head out that way next month when I am up visiting the area. I like how HL has the actual restoration taking place. They never cease to amaze me.

The Bug Light is truly an amazing representation of what transpired during the actual rebuilding of the light. I'm sure it will receive a lot of attention as it appears in displays.

Those of us who have seen the actual light (referring to the Bug Light) can attest to what a wonderful lighthouse this is. It looks brand new so to speak. It is very photogenic, to say the least.

Since this new restoration series is underway, surely Anclote Key, Potta...what's it, Jim's light and perhaps Egmont Key can't be far behind...let's keep our fingers crossed :0)

Cedar Island and Plum Island would be a great additions to the restoration series, like what HL did for Rockland Breakwater!!! I wouldn't mind the additional $5!! Just a thought! smile

Production in 2003 and 2004 of Long Island lighthouse are still in a dry spell so far even with annual Harbour Lights visits and last Falls Regional.
Cedar Island Oil House restoration is now completed. Lighthouse is next.
Huntington Harbor is actively restoring it's light and has trips out to the light.
Eaton's Neck is still manned and maintained by the Coast Guard who have always been cordial.
Orient Point is a Little Light!
Shinnecock LH in the style of Fire Island would make a great lost light!

Please review my previous posts for more specifics!
And LI Lighthouses for more information.

thanks,
Bob cool
