Does anyone know if HL is planning on making a Cape Charles, VA anytime in future?
This would be a neat piece to add to the existing Cape Henry, VA.

I agree with you chris. Some of these open frame towers should get a little more respect than they do.unlike the fancy towers they dont have the I guess for want of a better word Beauty.Still they have stood for many years doing the same job as the others and now should get some of the credit.Maybe they are catching on we've had sanibel, hillsboro.american shoals and now coney island.MAYBE MAYBE MAYBE!!!! I have been asking HL to about this light for awhile now. It is one of my favorite lights in the bay. Cape Charles would be a great addition to the HLs of the Chesapeake as well as another Tall Tower.

Chesapeake Bryan,
I noticed that you are from Dumfries, VA. Most interesting. You are about 20-30 miles from me. I am 5 miles from Dulles International next to the Potomac River.
As you state, Cape Charles would be a nice piece to accompany either the Chesapeake Bay lights or the Mid-Atlantic shore lights with Cape Henry. Either way, I would like to have it. On the topic of Chesapeake Bay....boy are there a lot of lighthouses that HL could produce of these. By the way, are you going to the HL Reunion in Baltimore to get the Hooper Strait piece? This should be a beauty! It will complement the the other screwpile type lights, Drum Point, Thomas Point, and 7 Foot Knoll.
Anyone know if HL is thinking about doing lone gone and forgotten lights? There are many screwpile type lights that were on the Chesapeake Bay that could be done.

Chris--Yes I will be attending the reunion. I also think it would be nice for HL to add one or two Chesapeake lights to th GLOP series. On a side note, last weekend I was actually able to see the remains of three or four of the old screwpile lights on the Chesapeake Chapter's lower bay cruise. Most of the remains of these lights are actually being used as daymarks on the Bay.
Derith--Cape Charles is actually is one of the last few lights I need to see on the Bay, so we are in the same boat (pardon the pun). I don't know a 100% for sure way to get a charter. But, the place to charter a boat would probably be in the virginia beach area. There are a ton of fishing charters that go out to the Bay Bridge Tunnel. Cape Charles is only a few miles from the bridge tunnel. Alot of the charter fishing boats go out at night to fish around the bridge, so finding a charter in the morning/afternoon shouldn't be too much of a problem. I just looked on the internet really quickly and was able to find a few charter listings there. If you have any any more questions or need more help, feel free to email me at bacree@home.com

There used to be charters out of Lynnhaven Inlet and Sewells Point. Possibly a few phone calls will provide some information. Coast Guard Station Little Creek, USCG Marine Safety Office in Norfolk, or even the Virginia Pilot's Association may have some info regarding charters. Tim - Keeping the flame lit... Mombo, I was wondering, and I appreciate the link with the pictures. It looks a lot like Hillsboro except it is all white. Great looking light. Thanks Rusty
