I would like to see Harbour Lights produce a new series of open editions (similar to GLOW's) of lighthouses that are currently under the ownership of lighthouse preservation groups. I know that some have been done and part of the proceeds goes to that lighthouse group, but it would be nice if there were a series to include all of the lighthouse preservation groups. This would greatly help these organizations to raise money with a top quality product to sell. These could be called PE's - Preservation Editons or something similar.

Mike,

That sounds like a great idea. I think HL has that in mind when they do a lighthouse like Rockland Breakwater. I would think that in time many if not all of those that are part of preservation groups may be included.

in the series should be included pieces that are on the endangered list that are not under the preservation of any group or society.

New England Lighthouse Lovers (NELL) coined the term HOPE (for Hands On Preservation Efforts).

Why not HL-HOPE (Harbour Lights - Hands On Preservation Editions).

This idea of enlisting Harbour Lights is unique although Harbour Lights has done something similar with donating $X.00 from the sale of particular pieces (ie. Rockland Breakwater)to the lighthouse. The $32,500 that Harbour Lights donated on behalf of Rockland Breakwater was very generous indeed.

Sounds good to me. It wouldn't matter what they were called, but it sure would be a boost to preservation groups that don't get the funds that the lighthouses that are run by government organizations get.
