Oceangator, You may want to encourage Harbour Lights to create a model of the light.

For those interested, here's a picture: Sand Island light on Dauphin Island, Alabama and a Web site: Sand Island Lighthouse Preservation Group

Welcome to the forums!

The above link to the Sand Island Lighthouse Preservation Society is well worth a look. This appears to be another deteriorating sentinal in need of help. The sponsors of the website suggest that the Alabama Historical Commission appears to lack the motivation to move things forward. I wonder if a sincere e-mail or snail-mail effort by a significant number of us wackos and pre-wackos would make a difference?

I would suggest snail-mail. It certainly wouldn't hurt! You may wish to mention in your letter that you are a tourist visitor to their state. Thanks for caring.
