I don't know if anyone as brought this up befor, but I would like to see a HL piece that has an outer "shell" that opens up to reveal the beautiful spiral stairs, the lamp room, etc.. It could be issued as a special edition and could use any light that has an outstanding interior design. Let's put a challenge out to Bill to produce one.

Yes and the shed roof could open to reveal the collection of "shovels". Digger[This message has been edited by Gravedigger (edited 08-14-99).]

Let's begin the nomination process. What's the nicest lighthouse interior you've ever seen?
For a tall tower, it's Currituck for me. In the "other" category, I'd go for either Yaquina Bay or Hereford Inlet.

I would have to Say Mississagi Lighthouse, Ontario, Canada. Simply because of all I visited it was the only one that was left untouched since the last keeper moved out. Furniture, appliances, personal items and clothing are still where they were left many years ago. It was like stepping back in time waiting for the keepers to walk into the room at any time. It has recently been reactivated and we could not go inside. I just hope they left it alone and didn't modernize it. Paul if you go there maybe you could update us on this subject.

Beautiful interiors - St. Augustine, Ponce Inlet & Cuttituck all seem to be of similar design to me. A nice landing covering about half the tower and a spiral stairs to the next level. Makes for great views and pictures.
Another interesting one, if I remember correctly, is Cape Florida. Think it has a spiral stairs that is built around a central pole.If you removed the lantern rom you could lift the stairs straight up out of the tower.
Another twist would be taking this idea to one of the integrated tower/keepers quarters. Could make for an interesting cross section with all the rooms, furniture, etc.
