I'd like to see an Anchor Bay of the Shubrick, which was the first and only tender on the west coast for about fifteen years in the mid- to late-1800s.

It was a unique, 140' sidewheel steamer that saw a variety of service from revenue cutter to lighthouse tender. It has a rich history starting with it's maiden voyage from the Philadelphia shipyard to it's home port in San Francisco, when it ran out of fuel. The crew was forced to burn the furniture and wood paneling to get it to port in Chile for refueling.

It transported the materials and crew for the building of the Point Robinson (Puget Sound) Lighthouse, and saw major changes to the lights up and down the west coast.

Aside from it's faithful service, I think the sidewheel steamer would make a neat model if only for it's sleek lines and lighthouse theme. It's 140' size would put it roughly in scale with some of the Harbour Lights models of tall towers that were built around the same time. I think it would work well in a mixed HL/AB display.

I have never heard of the "Shubrick", but I remember Herb Philbrick. Do you older guys and gals remember the television show where Herb Philbrick was the main character? (Answer will follow later unless someone comes up with it right away.)

Herb Philbrick was the main character in "I Led Three Lives."
