There must be many popular lights in the United States that haven't been replicated by Harbour Lights in the form of a sculpture. What are your favorite three lights that you have visited or photographed from a reasonable distance that you think are popular enough to be a good seller for Harbour Lights. Consider the term "your area" as no more than a day trip away.

I'll begin with my three choices:

1. Race Point, Provincetown, Mass.
2. North Light, Block Island, Rhode Island
3. Race Rock Light, New York

I would have to say California lights:

Point Bonita
Anacapa Island
Point Sur

If your talking ones that are not yet in LE's there are three that HL has done in the TLLOM that would be better IMHO

Point Vicente
Point Reyes
East Brothers Island

1. New London Harbor Lighthouse, CT (4th lighthouse site in the U.S.)

2. Race Rock Lighthouse, NY

3. Avery Point Lighthouse, CT (the only lighthouse ever built by the USCG as a memorial to ALL Lighthouse Keepers)

Well, since the only two in my state are already done, I'd have to say, of the ones I've seen,

No particular order

1) Two Harbors, MN.
2) Pottowatomie Light, WI.
3) Raspberry Island, WI.

I could probably list a few more but I'll limit it to three.

Mike

In addition, I might add to Dale's list__ Pt. San Luis Lighthouse in CA. (I admit it's a 4 hour plane trip though)

Wow, Bob M. It looks like your statement,

"Consider the term 'your area' as no more than a day trip away."

wasn't specific enough - it should have stated what mode of tranportation (horse and buggy or jet fighter).

#1 Sand Island, Alabama
(this would make a great Now and Then, it is like a twin to Morris Island, SC)(It once even had a train on the island! But now it stands tall, all alone apond a pile of rubble rock as the island is long gone).

#2 Ship Island, Mississippi

#3 Port Pontchartrain, Louisiana

I'll go with St. John's River (Mayport), any one of the remaining Florida reef lights, and Loggerhead Key. Although they're out of my area, I'll happily second Bob's Race Point, Ron's New London Harbor, and Mombo's Tibbetts Point.

This is what we have left in Florida that still can be seen and hasn’t been produced by Harbour Lights.

In Jacksonville Florida area, we still have two lights.
They are:
1. St. Johns river light
2. Mayport light

In Tampa area there are:
1. Egmont Key
2. Anclote Key

At the Florida Pan Handle:
1. Cape Sand Blas
2. Crooked River Light
3. St. Joseph's Point Light

On the south west coast on Gasparilla Island.

1. The Boca Grande Entrance Rear Range light (one mile from the Boca Grande Light)

In the Keys the lights that are left are:

1. Alligator Reef
2. Fowey Rocks
3. Sand Keys
4. Sombrero Keys
5. Carysfort Reef Lighthouse
6. Loggerhead Key

Sorry Bob, I got carried away. That’s more than three.
I thought it would be interesting to show how many Floridian Lights are left for Harbour Lights to produce.
Yes; Seen them all.

Here are my three favorites of this list, in order.

1. Cape Sand Blas- Keepers house restored and is very colorful.

2. Mayport light-close to home

3. Sand Keys- took a glass bottom boat ride out to it.

It's clear that there are a lot of great lighthouses for Harbour Lights to do yet. There are plenty more in California to do too.

1. Saginaw River Rear Range Light - Bay City, MI

2. Point Aux Barques - Huron City, MI

3. Little Sable Point - Ludington, MI

4. New & Old Presque Isle Lights - Presque Isle, MI

My picks would be from my home state of Maine.

1. Egg Rock Light

2. Winter Harbor Light (Mark Island Light)

3. Isle au Haut Light (Maine's only Bed and
Breakfasr Lighthouse)

Not neccessarily in this order.

Sorry I got in on this so late- I think
most of Ohio lights are covered, it's
a little more than a day trip, but
Michigan is my favorite place for lights.
I must agree with Todd on Little Sable,
a beautiful light, and also New Presque
Isle. I would love to see Crisp Pt.
as my number 1. They are doing such a great
preservation project there.

I'd have to say Cape Arago here in Oregon - with it's uniqueness in locale.

I would have to go with:

1) Waugoshance Shoal
2) Little Sable Point
3) Squaw Island

How about the two sheriffs?

Bob,
OK. I have to cheat a little. I'm going to do 2 lists. The first will be the list of 3 that are a day trip by car and the second list will be 3 that are a day trip in a plane. Fair? I can't possibly choose ONLY three.

Texas lights are being neglected lately. I'd love to see:

1. Matagorda Island
2. Halfmoon Reef
3. Port Aransas

Non-Texas Lights

1. Boca Grande Rear Range Light (Gasparilla Island, FL)
2. Eastern Point Light (near Gloucester, MA)
3. Sand Island (Mobile, AL)...I agree w/ Stephanie's Now and Then suggestion...great idea!

I was just going through this list of fine lights that you fellow collectors would like to see become a HL. Not one light walks away with the most requests. I think Mayport/St. John's River was requested the most at four. Point Ryes, Cape Romain, Race Point Mass., New London Harbor, and Loggerhead Key all had three. After that there were many doubles and single requests. Race Rock was not counted because it is already being made.

Believe it or not, you as collectors and what you type into the Collector Forums may influence a future HL. Your opinion, and those of your fellow collectors, are important to Harbour Lights.

I would highly recommend that if you feel strongly about a particular lighthouse and would like to see it made by Harbour Lights, start a new topic about it in this thread. Similar minded people will surely jump on the thread and give their opinion as to the worthiness of making your light.

Unless you are planning on winning the "Name a light to be made by Harbour Lights", make sure you think as a business minded person. Lights that could or would be great sellers might have a better chance than one that is unaccessible, obscure, or never heard of by fellow collectors.

Think as a business person and sell your idea! This Wish List thread should be one of the most active at the CF.

Beside the TX lights beckitex listed above I think that HL should do El Morro in San Juan Puerto Rico. It would be the first from PR and they have a few around the island.

Lets hear it for

El Morro (San Juan,PR)
