Things have been a little slow in the Wish List thread. Some of us had our wishes come true with the 2005 introductions of North Light Block Island, Avery Point Light, and Cedar Island Light. When your wishes are granted, it's time to post some new wishes.

I would like to add Pomham Rocks Light, East Providence RI. This light has been in the news lately here at the CF. Exxon-Mobil is allowing the newly formed "Friends of Pomham Rocks" to restore the light and even donated a sizeable piece of change to get things going. This light has great potential and I can forsee tours and stay overs becoming possible in the future. Therefore, I nominate Pomham Rocks as a future HL.

After the badly needed restoration of Plum Beach Light, it would also make a great HL. Everyone who travels over the Jamestown Bridge gets to see the light. Every vessel, ship, yacht, or boat that transits the West Passage of Narragansett Bay, gets to see the light. I feel it will become popular enough to be a good seller to collectors and tourists alike.

Gone but not forgotten...How about adding Whale Rock Light to this series? Apparently divers have discovered what may be the remains of Whale Rock Light which was destroyed in a hurricane (1938?) many moons ago. Like Bert brought up in another thread, is the fresnel lens still down there and intact? What a find that would be!

Well there are my three latest wishes for future HLs. Please express you opinion on those or any others you would like to see as future HL's. Harbour Lights listens to their collectors!

I will place the same wish I made to Bill, Nancy & Kim at the 1997 Reunion and many many times since. Let us see New London Harbor lightstation, site of the 4th lighthouse in the U.S.

The present tower was built in 1801-02 time frame and is a very lovely octagonal stone tower (similar to Sandy Hook and Five Mile Point).

I'd like to see them complete the still-standing Hudson River Lighthouses--all but Stony Point have been done.

I'd like to see the Erie Land Light, anything south of the Mason-Dixon Line or any Alaska light.

The "Wish List" is an important part of the Collector Forums. I firmly believe ideas for future pieces come from this place.

We hear talk about how most of the real popular lights have already been done. We hear the grumblings about reissues of the more popular lights. What we need to actually hear is support for less known but somewhat popular lights.

Let your fingers do the talking (typing) and speak your mind for future HL's! Harbour Lights listens to their collectors.

With that statement in mind, Bob, could they PLEASE FINALLY give us Little Sable Point, MI. ?? It's only been requested annually for the past million years. Its just about the only light left to do along Lake Michigans "sunset coast".

Little Sable would be a good before and after piece. Which would you prefer, the way it was or the way it is now?

I'm gonna agree with Suzanne. If I had to choose Little Sable between BEFORE or AFTER, I'd have to pick BEFORE.

But I would prefer a before AND after issue.

I certainly hope this is the year for Pottawatomie, since my other favorite Waugoshance will be the Reunion Exclusive. Little Sable would be nice as well. My personal list of lights is getting smaller with the announcement of the Sturgion Bay peirhead. (I'm kinda partial to Door County!)

Would also like to see New London Harbor as I saw that one on a business trip a couple years back.

What I would like to see most is a few with smaller bases. I'm just running out of room too fast!

I just realized that HL has not made a LE for Point Sur. Anyone know anything about production of this light station? It would be great to have this one especially now that we have contributed towards a prism for the lighthouse.

I have to say that Pottawatomie and Pt. Sur are great ideas. They are both major Wacko projects for this year, and yet neither one is represented in the HL repertoire.

Perhaps Pottawatomie could be the Society piece, to tie in with the whole Great Lakes theme? I don't think we've had a Great Lakes Society piece in a while.

Keep those requests coming! Don't be shy about repeating a requested light. The more requests, the more likely Harbour Lights will notice.

One thing to remember, they don't make these things overnight. I believe there is probably an eighteen month or so period required to gather the info, take pictures, develop the molds, make the paint samples, and put the final piece into production. Something you request today may not be seen for two years.

They say patience is a virtue. Be prepared to wait for your request to be honored. Keep your fingers crossed that by some slight chance the piece you wish for may already be in the development stage. You just never know until that piece is announced. Like I stated above, "Keep those requests coming!"

I would really like to see Burnt Island Light in Boothbay Harbor Maine.
The effort put in to restore the light and get it open to the public was truly Herculian. Add to that the excellent living history presentation that has developed, I think this LH should be done.
I've become even more convinced of this as I have come across many lights that have been done that are NOT accessable to the general public. One example is the nearby(to Burnt Is.) Hendrick's Head Light.
It seems to me HL should recognize the efforts done in the cause of restoration. Yes, I have read the posts here that the HL Co. is in business to make $ by doing lights that they believe will sell but with so much effort put into restoring and saving a light maybe they should be more considerate of those efforts.

I agree with Owl's Head and Burnt Island Light but also want to put in a plea for Point Sur and Point Bonita. Point Sur could be a real dramatic piece and maybe one with a bigger footprint than the others, like Navesink. Yes, I know it would take up space but if they want variety...!

As its new president, I speak on behalf of all our members in wishing for the Plum Beach Lighthouse. Its new look is something for us to be proud of, and having it available for others in miniature would be great. However, I must add that a Dept. 56 sized replica is in the works with much of the proceeds going to the Friends of Plum Beach Lighthouse. The designer and manufacturer of them has gotten together with the Lemax factory in China to make them, and he has offered them to our group at cost, then we can sell them for his suggested retail price, givng the Friends a greatly needed commission. He recently starting selling the Towers in Narragansett replica, and he did a very nice job with that miniature. Hopefully this piece won't get in the way of HL making one of the Plum Beach Lighthouse because having one in their series would be nice as well.

Well, I already specified Pomham after I laid out the itinerary for our upcoming vacation (which, due to having to move, I hope we're still able to do - we already have ditched Bald Head and Oak Island...AGAIN frown ) and considering what HL did with the "bush-peeper" (Haig point), I think that 5-mile in East Haven, CT is it confused would be a decent one.

I think we discussed this last year, but I want to bring it up again. A Texas Tower could be a really cool HL additon. Perhaps the Ambrose - it was a very important marker to NYC traffic. Could be a very different addition.

Also, maybe I'm having a stupid moment, but did we do the LS Ambrose yet? Because that's even MORE important to our history! In addition to guarding the entrance to New York City, it was also the beginning and ending (depending on direction) spot for the Blue Riband, the highly-sought after award for the fastest Trans-Atlantic crossing by ship.

For the curious--> The Blue Riband

I have been wishing for this one for a number of years and that hasn't changed. With the restoration work set to resume this spring and a renewed effort, funding and cooperation from the owner of the light, I think the Saginaw River Rear Range Lighthouse would be a perfect new LE piece.

This light is historic in that it was the first range light for navigation. Come on Harbour Lights!

Hi Lorie,

Sorry, At this time there is no public access. Only members of the Saginaw River Marine Historical Society have access to work out at the light. However, there have been a few tours taken through. A few were through the local community education program, members of the GLLKA have been through, and a few other groups.

Hopefully soon, the light will be open to the public on a regular basis.

Thanks for the reply Todd. I know there will be some of us touring lighthouses around the reunion time in that area. I just thought it would be nice to see Saginaw if we could get in.

If enough people are interested and could get them all together to meet at the same time, there is a possibility that we could get the group out there for a tour. There are no promises, but with a date and time, we could try to arrainge something.....

Thanks for all your help Todd. smile

On our wishlist would be lighthouses of the UK, like the lovely figures made by John Hine for Harbor Lights. We have two of those and are looking for the others. Sadly they are not made any longer. There are many fine lighthouses here in the UK and we think it is sad that there are no figures.
New ones would be brilliant!!! smile

LighthouseDuo, welcome to the Collector Forums! This is a good place to lobby for Harbour Lights. The one English light they have done that comes to mind is the Eddystone Light that was done to celebrate their 10th anniversary.

There is another English light. Longships (Land's End) first issued in May of 1977.

As I voted before, Point Sur and Point Bonita would be nice. Now that I have seen Piedras Blancas it would be beautiful with its original lantern. Also Eric's idea of Florida reef lights gets my vote!
