I'll say it again (since no one has said it for at least a few weeks).

SAND ISLAND, ALABAMA

I was in Mobile when the HL Middle Bay was introduced. Remember the days when an LE would retire before it was even shipped. It almost seems like before the microwave. Anyway, Middle Bay didn't just sell out because it had the cool screwpiles. Gulf Coast shops that usually bought 2 or 3 of each light house ordered it by the hundreds. (That was a 9500 retirement, not a 5500.) A Sand Island then and now set probably retired an hour ago, and I've just made this post!

Come on guys...give the people what they want.

Here's a picture. Sand Island, Alabama

Beating a dead horse into the ground is how we get results. Keep up the good work Lou, Harbour Lights listens to its collectors.

I agree Lou! This one's been mentioned a few times over the past few years, but it never hurts to bring it up again! Below is a link with the house next to it. It would make a great before and after set!

Theres a new group in town! The Sand Island group and the Middle Bay group have joined together to greate a united "Alabama Lighthouse Association". Together this group may get something done to restore Sand Island. Power is in numbers, so please consider joining this group to help.

Great looking website Stephanie! Good luck to the new group. Any chance of Middle Bay getting a new lantern room?

When we were down south in 2000, we saw Sand Island from Fort Morgan. I'm afraid that the pics I took where it's super tiny are about the only time that I'll get to see it. frown

SAND ISLAND, PLEASE!!!!!!!!

I was lucky enough to be able to fly over the lighthouse. Unfortunately I didn't have a camera.

Two years ago Heather and I had the opportunity to join Alan & Diane Beckman on a boat trip to view Sand Island and Middle Bay Lighthouses. Lamar had planned on joining us, but was unable. Here are some pics from that trip. . .

and a couple of Middle Bay. Sorry, but it sure is homely without a lantern room. Understand there is one to be reinstalled, just need to get the resources together to do so.
