Since the first batch of 2007's have been announced, I thought it be a good time to post my updated top 10 wishlist. With Point Bonita off the list, here's the updated list:

Loon's Harbour Lights Top 10 Wish List (Actually 11)

1) Bergen Point Light – NJ
2) Minnesota Point - MN
3) Delaware Breakwater – DE
4) Tinicum – NJ ( Currently only a LLOM )
5) Chapel Hill – NJ
6) Duluth North Breakwater and/or South Breakwater Outer – MN
7) Barnegat Lightship – NJ (Anchor Bay)
8) Oakland Harbor – CA ( As it was, not the replica )
9) Miah Maull Shoal – NJ
10) Robbins Reef – NJ
(tie) Harbor of Refuge - DE

I know it's a little NJ heavy, but that's why it's MY wishlist.

Here's my sales pitch for a yearly New Jersey lighthouse.
** There are alot of lighthouse collectors in NJ, just look at how many CF members are from NJ. Plus where the most heavily populated state(only a good thing when it comes to retail sales).

Please share your thoughts, or even your own list. Happy 2007 everyone. cheers

Just to be my regular self-

Robbins Reef is generally thought of as a NY lighthouse although the NJLHS thinks of it as a NJ lighthouse.

The same can be said for Great Beds.

I can say this because of where I'm from and what organization I'm part of and do talks for. laugh

No, but my Father was born in Troy, NY and many of both sides of my family are from NY. my parents met in albany, NY and lived there for several years after they got married.

I'll have to give my list some thought- although I can say some of them are from NJ.

I would love to see the Duluth Breakwater Lights as one piece with the canal and levitating bridge. Wouldn't that be something.

The wish list is important. I'm sure Harbour Lights reads what's here and our requests may influence production of future HL's.

Two quick thoughts came in my mind a moment ago: Ponham (Pomham) Rock, East Providence, RI, and Watch Hill Light, Watch Hill, RI.

These two should make an appearence in the next couple of years.

Robbin's Reef in in NJ waters, so it should be a NJ lighthouse. Same should be said for the Statue of Liberty, which is also in NJ waters. confused

By the way, the land area behind Lady Liberty is where I was born. Montgomery Street, Jersey City, NJ. towel

Not in any order.

1. Carysfort Reef
2. Sombrero Reef
3. Aligator Reef
4. Jones Point
5. Cape St. George (either surrounded by water, but not tilting or before erosion was a problem or both)
6. Crooked River
7. San Blas
8. Cordouan, France (with the ability to open to see the inside)
9. Faro Blanco (private aid to navigation, just like Hilton Head)
10. Mount Dora (private aid to navigation also)

Debbie, It would be great if HL could do a very large piece, or multiple pieces for the Duluth Breakwaters. This is something maybe only available at a HL reunion in the Lake Superior area with a low production # and probably a price tag over $100. Something only the diehards or Lake Superior locals must have. whistling

As for my wish list, I have another to add:

West Riglots, Louisiana - This lighthouse was abandoned and in need of repair until August 2005. That is when Hurricane Katrina hit and wiped it out.

Could be a good one to raise money for that area's lighthouses.

I would like to see a "Gone but not Forgotten" of Back River Lighthouse, hopefully including the bridge to the keeper's quarters and of course the keeper's quarters.

Melody, that sounds like it would make a great LE. Do you know of any other pictures of Back River?

I'd also like to see HL make a better scaled Fort Point LE. One to include the fort and part of the Golden Gate bridge. Since the original edition was a CS gift, they can do another.

I haven't been able to find any others on the web, but I haven't done an extensive search.

There are some wonderful pictures of Back River in the latest edition (Winter 2007, Vol XIX, Issue 1) of "Chesapeake Lights" the quarterly newsletter of the Chesapeake Chapter of the US Lighthouse Society. In the "The Chesapeake Channel Marker" section (Issue #36), Betty Collins authored a four page article on the light. Unfortunately, it seems this section of the newsletter is not available on their website (at least I haven't been able to find it.) However, if you join the chapter, it looks like you get this most recent copy sent to you.

The picture displayed on my previous link is credited to a USCG photo taken 1885. In the article another photo that displays the keepers quarters is also credited to the USCG, circa 1850.

There are 2 other photos in the article that are Photographer unknown, one circa 1905 which displays both the light, keepers quarters and the bridge/walkway that connect the two, and a 1950 photo displaying the light in disrepair.

Betty listed her sources for the article:

"Down by the Back River Light", 2006 Ann Davis/Morgan James Publishing

"The Lighthouses of the Chesapeake", 1993, Robert deGast/The John Hopkins University Press

"Back River Lighthouse", 1995, Charles F Elliott

"The Keeper's Log" Winter 1995, Charles F Ellott, US Lighthouse Society

"Forgotten Beacons: The Lost Lighthouses of the Chesapeake Bay", 1997, Patrick & Turbyville Hornberger, Eastwind Publishing

"Lighthouses of Maryland and Virginia: History, Mystery, Legends & Lore" 2006, Bob Trapani Jr., Myst and Lace Publishers

"Lighting the Bay", 1996, Pat Vojtech, Tidewater Publishing.

Hope this helps!

I would be excited if the collector society pieces were East and West Chop from Martha's Vineyard! smile

Umpqua River Lens vhappy
5ft diameter, 10 feet high red and white first-order Fresnel lens manufactured in 1890 by Barbier & Cie of Paris, using a Funck mineral oil lamp, was lit for the first time on December 31, 1894, with a signature of two white flashes followed by a red flash.

I also agree that HL should make this lens, especially after seeing Bob's great photo. The red and white prisms really make this lens special.

This lens does NOT have red prisms. The red panels are located outside the Fresnel lens.

I didn't mean to mislead or confuse anyone. I believe that all fresnel prisms are greenish(French) or white(British)? You can see the panels on the 'WOW' url(sbove) and photo(below).

Still pretty cool!

I wonder...the word from Tony the other day was that the exclusive this year was going to be less expensive than in the past. Perhaps that's because, unlike in the past, the freebie and exclusive are going to be more the same size than in the past, where one was more large or detailed and the freebie was smaller and a touch simpler.

If they're both the Chops, I'm guessing East Chop for the freebie and West Chop for the exclusive. Why? East Chop is a simple cast-iron tower, with no outlying buildings in HL-base distance. West Chop is a bit taller, a bit more detailed, and has an attached keeper's house that's more likely to be a "plus" on the exclusive.

I have a feeling that this might be the year. It's been a request for a while, and it's been just that right amount long enough since the idea's initial suggestion (as I remember) 1.5-2 years ago to get it through the pipeline. Plus, it's a matched pair, as the Society pieces have been for the past few years.

They also could do the North & South Duluth Breakwaters as a CS gift and exclusive set. But I think they've done enough Great Lake lights for this year.

If not this year, many next year. smile

I just thought of another set for the CS gift and exclusive pieces.

How about New Castle Front and Rear Ranges in Delaware. I pretty sure one of these is small which would be the gift/membership piece. The larger one would be the exclusive purchase piece.

I received a postcard from the lighthouse-duo Margret and Stan of St. Catherine's Lighthouse on the Isle of Wight in the UK. I would absolutely love to see this lighthouse replicated by Harbour Lights...it is a real beauty.

I'll second Wood Island for a future HL!!

... or any lighthouse in Maine that hasn't already been created, such as Winter Harbor, ME (hint hint)

I would also support and purchase another LSS too. There were many of these in Maine as well!

Since the rest of the 2007's didn't remove anything from my wishlist, here's an update.

I did notice a couple lights removed from others wishlists. cool So it can't hurt to keep wishing.

My NJ list:
- Bergen Point Light – NJ (Gone but not forgotten)
- Tinicum – NJ ( Currently only a LLOM )
- Miah Maull Shoal – NJ
- Robbins Reef – NJ
- Barnegat Lightship – NJ (Anchor Bay)
- Liberty Lightship - NJ (Anchor Bay)
- Chapel Hill – NJ

Other states:
- Minnesota Point - MN
- Delaware Breakwater – DE
- Duluth North Breakwater and/or South Breakwater Outer – MN
- Oakland Harbor – CA ( As it was, not the replica )
- Harbor of Refuge - DE
- West Riglots, Louisiana - (Now gone due too Hurricane Katrina)
- Wood Island - ME

GLOWS (for us Redo fan's wink )
- Tuckers Beach, NJ (Not the replica)
- Minots Ledge, MA
- Whaleback, NH/ME
- Fort Niagra - NY
- Sandy Hook - NJ (418 revision)

Plus too many others to name.

Bob,
That list is just for starters. I'd also like to see Finns Point, Great Beds, Romer Shoal, and a few Jersey LSS's. Plus there's another 6 to 8 Gone But Not Forgotten hopefuls.

Same goes for the non-Jersey list.

Adding a forth curio, and probably a fifth next year. That should keep me for a little while. Probably still small potatoes compared to the CF Saints.

I will continue to skip anything LLOM, but everything else is welcomed. laugh

I didn't realize that there were that many of NJ lights that haven't been made yet. But when you look at all the lights throughout NE and even Michigan...they still have many years left of different lights that they could make. Let's just hope that NJ stays on the short list!
laugh
And as far as LLOM stuff...sorry, but I must disagree with you, they still need to keep making these as well! I don't have the room for 1 of everything if it remains in the LE or GLOW series...just can't fit them all.

Bob, I have nothing against LLOM's. There is a big market for these. I have many friends who collect them. I hope every lighthouse is made as a LLOM as well as a LE.

I don't because of space. Right now it may seem space is not a problem, but as you can see, there are so many lighthouses still to become HL models. I'm trying to avoid a problem that many long time collectors are facing. No more space. I'd rather buy what I like now, skipping a few here and there, then have to stop at some point, or start selling off some of my collection.

I'm trying to understand from many of the "No Redo" folks wisdom. I'm in it for the long run. I want every lighthouse to be an important part of my collection(and all displayed).

I just will be a little more excited with every NJ LE release. laugh

(There is also budget issues, my income has been getting less and less each year. That's a whole nother can of worms.)

Isn't it good that we are all differnet!!!

I for one would love to see everything made as LLOM. And - funny isn't it Stan - I prefer LLOMs because of our lack of space!

They are astonishing works of art!

Which would I like to see made?
St. Catherine's Point here in England. But that is a vain hope I fear.

Realistically, maybe I can hope for a LLOM of Pt. Fermin ... maybe...

There hasn't been a post to the "Updated HL Wishlist" in awhile. I hope my fellow collectors haven't stopped wishing for their favorite lights.

Nothing I like better than having an area light produced by Harbour Lights. I just received Annisquam and Hospital Point via UPS, yesterday. They both are really well done.

Currently, I'm hoping for Watch Hill RI and Pomham (some say Ponham) Rocks also in RI. Of course, I also hope that Little Gull Island Light in NY will be chosen as the next CF Exclusive.

Other area lights I would like to see produced by Harbour Lights are:

Great Point, Nantucket
Cape Pogue, Martha's Vineyard
East Chop & West Chop (possibly as a pair) Martha's Vineyard
Warwick Light, Warwick RI
Plum Beach Light, No. Kingstown RI
Dutch Island Light, Jamestown RI (Society gift?)
Prudence Island Light, Sandy Point, Prudence Island RI

There are others but we'll leave those wishes for later. Remember wishes do come true so don't hesitate to type your wishes into this thread to let Harbour Lights know what their faithful collectors are thinking.
