It's going to be a long eight weeks for me. I just ordered two new BIG Reinisch curio cabinets from a furniture dealer in NC. The style cabine has a special door which I've seen called a picture frame door. The whole glass front slides to the side so you don't have to reach around the sides or have a wooden piece running down the front of the cabinet. I paid less for them on this website than on furniturefind. If all works well, I will let you know where I bought them. They are 44" wide, 80" tall and have 7 glass shelves. I can't wait to be able to see all of my HL's displayed together.

I feel sure that this is the Philip Reinisch model cabinet that Joanne is referring to in her post. This is Furniture Find Company Website that Joanne also refers to in her post.
http://www.furniturefind.com/PhilipReinisch/PR58171.htm

I suspect that the double top secret North Carolina Furniture Company, that Joanne is purchasing her twin cabinets from, is The Rose Furniture Company.

http://www.rosefurniture.com/

This model of the Philip Reinisch Curio Cabinet was on display at Rosemont in Chicago last year. It is very, very nice and extremely handy with the big sliding door for ease of access. The only thing need to make sure of is room to slide the door open without it hitting anything.

We have two Philip Reinisch Curio Cabinets (different models) and they are very, very nice quality.

Sorry, didn't mean for it to be a secret, but didn't want to refer anyone until I knew for sure they were good. It's National Furniture Distributor's Inc., and those are the cabinets I ordered. The price was $566 for the traditional oak and $526 for cherry. Shipping for one was $128 which is delivered into your home, set up and given a chance for your inspection. They don't show the Philip Reinisch 58171 on the website but you can ask for it, which is what I did.

If you are facing the cabinet, the front "door" slides from the right to the left. I plan to put them side by side, but one two inchs further from the wall than the other, for slide room. That's the nice part about the picture frame front, you don't need to leave room between the two cabinets for doors.

FYI the Philip Reinisch Factory is located in Chicago. Thanks Joanne for posting the name of the company and everybody should realize that just because you mention a company doesn't mean that is an automatic endorsement by you even if you have great results. Everybody is responsible for his or her own actions. Especially when it comes to the Internet, but then if it is on the Internet it must be true….. TPFIC

Well, my new curios were delivered today and are they beautiful. They are huge. I bet my whole collection would fit into one, which leaves lots of room to grow into. When I go home I'll measure the distance between each shelf so that will give you an idea of what can fit.

Just so you know the details, they have 7 glass shelves, oak wood, 44" wide, 80" tall, 17" deep. The price for the oak cabinets with delivery came to $684.00 each. ($566 each, $236.00 delivery). They were delivered into my home and completely set up for me. The cabinet in cherry would have been $526.00 instead of $566.

Congratulations on the arrival of you twins!
Are you related to the BRADYS'?
Actually it makes sense to buy two at a time for some of the reasons you mentioned. Looking foward to pictures?

Well, silly me to say that I thought my collection could fit into one cabinet. I've never seen my collection all together in one place before and never realized how large it is!

I have the shorter pieces in one cabinet and the taller pieces in the other. Actually, by doing this I can have an additional glass shelf added making it a total of 9 shelves in one piece, which a spacing of about 7" to 8". The other shelf has a spacing of about 8" to 9" and one shelf (for Hillsboro) at about 11".

This morning I opened the cabinet that has an almost empty lowest shelf because I wanted to turn a piece in a different direction. I closed the cabinet and was standing near it. I happened to notice what a clear reflection of my Siamese cat, Suki, was in the glass. I thought proudly to myself that I did a great job in cleaning the glass until I realized that it wasn't a reflection and that the cat sneaked in while I had it opened.

Congratulations there Joanne! I had to move to two different curios as well. We had one already, but I wanted matching curios. Unfortunately, the thickness of the glass shelves was not to my liking, so I found a local glass cutter who cut me thicker shelves. Jackie (my wife) procured the other curio for her collection of porcelain hummingbirds. Now I have a new problem... I am quickly running out of room in my second curio, and the new line of HLs coming out this fall will take care of what extra space I have. Plus, Jackie is not too receptive to another curio. Ugh!

Now if you could train Suki to dust the HL's Joanne, you'd be all set!

My Melanie likes to look at them now and then. She's probably wishing that I'd rearrange them so she could see some different ones as she only sees those on the bottom shelf.

Those are big curios - very nice looking from the Web pages. Halogen lighting seems to favor HL models.

What is it about cats and lighthouses and lighthouse models. They seem to go together.

I absolutely love the way the front just slides open. It makes it so much easier to place and move the pieces without worrying so much about accidently banging them around. I don't have to reach around any piece. The door doesn't slide open all the way, about 2/3 the distance. It would tip if it went all the way, and becaue of the sliding door, I'm able to have the two curios on a 96 inch wall. I have one curio about two inches further from the wall than the other so that the door just slides right past the other cabinet. I just have about 2 inches of space between the two. I have a wall of lighthouses.

Thanks to everyone for the information regarding the curios. It's about time for me to buy another, and this looks like a great place to start.

Independent of you I have just ordered the same item from Sears Homelife. It comes in a variety of finishes and is absolutely great for displaying our Harbour lights!!! Mine is in whitewashed oak. The day it arrives will be devoted to me "playing with my lights"!!!!

When I was at the Bill Event in Yakima, I told him that I had 3 curios full and had to get another, but didn't have room for one. He said they're starting a new branch of the business - the Harbour Lights Add a Room Construction & Finance Branch....

Just a little update, as of this week NATFURN.COM does NOT carry the Phillip Reisch line of curios or cases any longer!! I checked with them and they have stopped , they didn't explain why, so we'll have to check other sources. NATFURN HAD the best pricing, but......

I've been looking at buying a curio to put into my "Lighthouse Room". Here's a link that was on a thread awhile back http://www.furniturefind.com/curios.htm .The prices are about $100 to $200 cheaper than the price i was given at the store I went to.

Has anybody use this particular company lately? The link is still good.

Unfortunately, I had to refuse delivery on my case yesterday as the case door was not square and it didn't close right, nor did it look right. SO, I'll have to wait for another delivery!! I'll sure post a picture when its done in a few weeks (I HOPE)

Case was delivered for the 2nd time today, and it was damaged!!! I'm going with another company!! Company A was Homelife (Sears). Company B is Rose Furniture which is also $150 cheaper overall.
