Debbie,

I was wondering the same thing. About a year ago, I was trying to decide how to replace a bulb. In the process I dropped the dang piece. And therefore ended up replacing the whole piece.

I suppose that could be considered one way to handle the situation. Unfortunately, it would become rather expensive. mad

Sorry to hear that you broke it, Bob!
I agree that if you were replacing the piece every few years (depending on how often you light it) could become quite expensive!

Even though I like to light them every now and again, I doubt that I would replace the whole piece. I would rather take that money and put it towards one that I need or a new one that I want.

So, unless it's possible to replace the bulb, it will remain dark!

DANIEL,

You probably remember the old saying: "Right church -- wrong pew."

In this case, you ain't even in the right church.

So, I suppose this begs the question: "how many Wackos does it take to change a GLOW light bulb?"

I must admit.
My should I or shouldn't I came, up in my brain.
Therefore, I hurried up and posted before I could give it any thought and not do it.

I have to laugh at the “How many forum users does it take to change a light bulb”.
I see myself in some of it.

Dave
I agree greg needs to change the light bulb joke to "how many Wackos does it take to change a GLOW light bulb?"

DANIEL,

And it's all in fun. That's great. It's not too often that so many diverse people can get along so well.

My thoughts on the idea of changing the bulbs in GLOWs is simple: Don't buy them and you don't have to worry about changing the bulb. For the Christmas Pieces that have bulbs it's almost as simple: Don't ight them and they won't burn out.

I would prefer if the GLOW's don't light. So I guess I'd get my wish after owning them a while. wink

I am talking about the Christmas pieces. I know that there are a few memebers that do not like the light up feature.
However- I do. I do not light them up all the time, but I do occasionally. Reminds me of the real thing and causes me to think back to a time when a keeper and his family might be safe and snug inside their home.
I was hoping that someone would know if they can be changed...I'm assuming probably not. However, I thought that Harbour Lights might have taken that into account when they designed these.
I guess though, as Bob eluded to, if you really want one that lights (after bulb failure) you buy another one. Bolstering sales.

Thanks Daniel!!! I must of missed that one!!!
Caused some drink to come out of my nose while I bursted out laughing reading these!!! biglaugh
How true that thread is...

I think the bigger problem is finding a bulb with the same characteristics as the one you are replacing. That would be the challenge. I wonder if HL would sell you a replacement bulb?

Debbie, I was looking at the Christmas & GLOW editions I have to see if there was a way to get at the lightbulb to changes it of check the wiring. Problem is all of mine are before they switched to having lights.

Maybe another CF member has a moment to check one of theirs. Might be something very simple.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And for those lightbulb jokers, here's the lightbulb limerick from the Lighthouse Games section:

How many lightbulbs does one Keeper need,
To keep the beacon flashing a definite good deed,
And how many keepers does it take?
To light these beacons for the boats on the lake.
So many light questions for keepers to heed.
