Take a tip from Paul and get a master craftsman as a brother-in-law. Failing that, talk to your kids or grandkids about marrying one.

Hey Fred, ...Do you want me to send you my plans for the 20 by 24 HL addition I just put on my house? It even has two closets for boxes and a bathroom if I get too excited...lol !

"Insignificant Other" has recently gotten into *Power Tools*. He keeps asking if I don't want him to make me stuff for the house. I tell him to make stuff for outside, like flower boxes, birdhouses, etc. Seems to have problems with straight cuts, measurements, etc. A master carpenter he'll never be. Oh well.....

Fred,

Spent this hot miserable weekend making shelves about 18" from the ceiling for HL display.

Took sides from an old pine bed, bought wood shelf supports at Lowes, stained supports to match shelf pieces, and mounted on old style pine panelling, the thich stuff you don't see anymore.

Joyce weaved decorative fishnetting among the models. Will add christmas lights and a dimmer later.

One is in the study and one in the kitchenette. Great place for the older units that lack the detail.

Moby: Sounds beautiful but don't you worry about dust, and kitchen grease?

Mombo,

Thanks for the concern. Dust is not a problem. Easy to get rid of.

Grease is not either for we do not fry. Outside gas grille is where we do that type of cooking.

I am into lighthouses for the pure enjoyment of viewing them. Location, location, location. Now where have we heard that before.

Joyce prides herself on keeping a ever so clean home. No pets inside. Hot water heat. Efficient duct filter system for the AC. Definitely no smoking.

May do a curio some day. HLs are tough. Like this collector.

Sounds as though Joyce is the pride of your "collection". You are certainly lucky to have her.

I was in the Bombay Company yesterday and saw some neat display cases with mirrored backs and glass shelves. Not cheap but reasonable.

I'm planning a built-in curio that doubles as a room divider between my living room and dining room. When completed, it will hold over 60 HLs (one deep) and will be viewable from both sides, with a doorway connecting the two rooms in the middle. It will span the width of the dining room, be halogen lighted and have a plate rail above on the dining room side. I plan to do all the work myself. Here's my concept sketch for anyone interested:

Room Divider/ Built-In Curio

Unreasonable and cheap,

I have lovely glass cabinets between my kitchen & dining area. The only problem is they have dishes and glasses in them! My 3 curio cabinets are overflowing. May have to switch to paper plates!

Looks great Art!

Paper plates and "Dixie" cups, right, dwood?

Bob, will we be seeing pictures of your new HL room soon?

Art,

Are those plates with a gallery rail at the top? How about HLs with indirect lighting up there? How about extending the top around the room? I mean, when you are a wacko, you can never get too many HLs on display, right?
