I have ended up with a number of HL pieces that have the styrofoam inserts but did not have the plastic bag to protect the piece from "rubs" on the paint. (This was brought up in another post )I finally found a reasonable substitute. I located a store that sells bulk peanuts, popping corn and other such supplies to vendors. They carry clear plastic bags used for cotton candy . This bags are a little larger than those used by HL, but they are very close in thickness (mills). They came in a package of 100 for $4.80 (it also includes 100 twist ties). From what I can tell, they work very nicely. You may want to check the Yellow Pages under "Concession Equipment & Supplies" , "Popcorn Supplies" or "Nuts and Edibles". Our dealer is listed under all three.

I have found that the plastic bags that newpapers come in work real well. They just have to be cut down a little since they are too long. If you are getting a paper every morning you can't beat the price. Just make sure that they are dry before you use them.

Plastics are made of various materials many of which can harm the paint finish on our HL,s when wrapped and packed in the form fitting styro. This is even more so if you store packed HL,s in a high temp area as the chem compounds the bag is made of will leach on to the paint and may cause color changes etc. ... non-acid tissue paper does the same job and much safer for long term storage.

Hi Lonnie, ... You bring up an interesting point about plastic bags. Do you know if the bags sold as "food storage bags" are safe?

I bought a couple of HLs from dealers who had discarded the plastic bags. I susbstituted "food storage bags".

If they are not printed with a store name etc. should be ok but do not store in an area
of high heat or moisture. I would also poke a few holes in the bag for a small amount of air circulation .

Thanks for the info. I'd be heartbroken if I put a piece in a bag with good intentions only to find out it wasn't wise. I live in Florida so heat and moisture is a way of life. Thanks for the tip.
