Looking for a little help. I know that in the last few years of HL's existence, only about 550 of each Limited Edition were actually made before the company went out of business. I am attempting to confirm whether the same holds true for the last few Anchor Bays, as well, or if the entire edition was completed. If anyone here has in their collection an AB122 Lightship Overfalls, AB 123 Tender Narcissus, or AB124 87' USCG Patrol Boat, would you please let me know what serial/flag # you have? You can either post it here or email me at roland@thecapecodstore.com and I would be very appreciative. Thanks!

That is a good question. I often wondered about that also. I see them on eBay once in a while. Nobody seems to be beating down the doors for one. I did find something interesting about the Society Pieces production. On eBay I found a 2010 Old Mount Desert Maine #563 society exclusive with a production of 1147. So that a least shows not all of the later models had a production of 550

The Society pieces would be different than Limited Editions or Open Editions, (which, I suspect, would also be very limited in the later releases, especially where a bunch of them were discontinued). Because it was a membership thing, HL would have had an idea as to how many to make just by using the previous year's numbers. The trend from year to year as far as how many members the Society lost or gained would have been carried over with each new year when production was ordered.

Remember, the Society pieces were also a "timed production" running from year to year so that is why there could have been greater numbers produced then the limited editions. The limited editions could be planned for but the society piece production was an "unknown" thing since there was no way to tell how many members would join.

After some extensive research I have gotten confirmation from a person who was instrumental in purchasing at Harbour Lights. He confirmed that the actual number produced and sold of AB122 Lightship Overfalls and AB123 Tender Narcissus were only 500 each. AB124 USCG 87 foot Patrol Boat had only 300 produced and sold! We have available directly from the old Harbour Lights storehouse what may be the only AB124 counter sample in existence! Available at the following link.. http://www.thecapecodstore.com/harbour_lights/cs_87_foot_patrol_boat.html

I was able to purchase the AB 123 Tender Narcissus a couple of weeks ago on eBay. The number fits in to Roland's information that production was no more than 500. It is number 418. The ship is very detailed, on the smaller side which i like and I have a soft spot for coastguard tender ships, since i was an Architect that designed many buildings for the coast guard including a Buoy tender building where the Buoys were repaired and maintenance. Also design a building for coastguard that housed the simulators for teaching how to pilot the coast guard cutter.
