The market is certainly increasing on the later releases (365 and up) of HLs. With only 550 basically of each one of them out there it is no wonder. The lens appear to be holding their own so I wonder if Harry's lights and lens will zoom up there with the small number he has produced?

Keep the reports coming since a lot of collectors do not frequent EBay.

Egg Rock is just a little surprising. Looks like a bit of a bidding war brought that up a bit. The $1,021 Alligator Reef also was fueled by a bidding war, but I'm not really surprised. That is the most sought after piece from customers contacting us with requests. The lenses have slowly but steadily increased and I believe will continue to do so, especially the later releases. Would be very interesting to see what a Fastnet Lens sells for when one eventually comes up.

I'm surprised. Haven't seen prices like that for a long time except maybe for the lenses. Must have been an unknowledgeable buyer or buyers with lots of bucks bidding.

The eBay has been fun to watch lately, since some of the 550's .(HL365 and up) are bidding.

It's not unknowledgable buyers Larry. These are collectors who know what the market is. Florida pieces have always been very desirable. Alligator Reef is perhaps the hottest HL piece in years on the secondary market. There actually were only about 550 of them made before HL went out of business. The rest of the planned edition never happened. There are many more collectors looking for this piece than what is available for purchase. The two that were on EBAY are the first two that have been available in what may be at least a couple of years, as I don't recall seeing another one there for at least that long. These collectors know that if you really want the piece for your collection you need to strike while the iron is hot. It may be another two years before another one shows up!

I agree with Roland 100% on his explanation of why the price went so high, bidding war aside. When you collect and you are missing a piece of the puzzle and it becomes available you have 2 choices. You either fish or cut bait. I have cut bait many times in the past and have been sorry for it. I decided after some regrets about not spending the money that from now on I would fish.

Actually on Aug 24, 2017 another Alligator Reef HL395 - #14 on eBay sold for $1021.51 plus $17.50 shipping.
Oops, my mistake, this lighthouse was already posted above in the top 10.
