I made this quilt to display my pins
Then after looking at Johns shadow box I came up with this to put my thumbnails in. Going to order a piece of mirror to go on the back

bought the box from Michaels and added shelves. wink Making one from scratch for spyglass when I'm done will show it.

Neat ideas, Fran. Like the quilt with a diamond for each pin. Very creative.

Very nice Fran. The quilt really shows off the pins. About how big is the box with the thumbnails?

Fran,

Your "quilt of lighthouse pins" is absolutely beautiful! What a clever idea.

And your modification of the box from Michael's to display your thumbnails looks great, also. And I'm sure that your shadow box for your spyglass collection will look just as good.

You are very creative.

What a neat idea! That quilt is brilliant! I have been trying to work out a way to display pins for ages, never thought of that one!
Now all I need to do is learn how to quilt wink
And that thumbnail display is also a neat idea - it will look stunning with the mirror behind!

Just a thought, but with the combined weight of all those pins, you might want to include some substantial material into the middle to the quilt to help it hold shape when it is fully loaded.

The box I bought t michaels was 8 x 10. That was my 1st atempt at a quilt. I suprised even myself. The weight so far isn't a factor. The pins are very light but if it does start to sag i will think of something wink

Very well done on both counts Fran. Great looking displays. Isn't it amazing what one can accomplish by just giving it a try.

I like both of them. laugh laugh I had been thinking of a replacement for my pin vest as it is starting to get heavy and too many times it is just too hot to wear down here. Since my mom quilts anyway, I think I know what I will ask for my birthday from mom (Christmas is too soon).

My, my, Fran keeps coming up with all kinds of hidden talents!! Love the displays, Fran! Maybe the solution for any sagging could be taken care of by taut stretching between a top and a bottom dowel?

I had planned on sewing pockets later on, on top and bottom for that purpose, but couldnt wait to see what it looked like and got lazy. Will do in the future.
