A while back there was some discusssion of the forum about storing unused film in the fridge or freezer. I've been "searching" for it to no avail - but have found lots of other good info. Can anyone else find this thread? Or remember how it went. Fridge or freezer? Take it out of the pack and the plastic container? Put it in a baggie? Some good sales lately on film but won't be taking many pictures for a while. Thanks.

Here's a thread on photography tips. Photo TipsI usually keep my film in the refrigerator, which slows down the expiration of the film. I seal it in their boxes unopened in a zip-locked bag. When it is time to use them I make sure to have them sit out for 12 hours before opening the plastic cans and removing the film cartridge. I haven't used the freezer but it is suppose to effectively stop the expiration of the film, but you need to move from the freezer to the refrigerator and then to room temperature. You are trying to reduce condensation from forming. A friend of mine has been freezing his film for years with no problems. Saint WackoPaul 'Keep the Flame

Again, thanks for the information. I did not ever worry about expiration dates until I started buying the bigger packages of film and wasn't always getting it used up. Now I can store it for future use.

Have put some in fridge and some in freezer. If next year's LH pictures turn out blue, we'll know it didn't work. So cold here now (2 last night) could probably save fridge space and just put it out on the porch! Mombo's coldness test: Put 1 can beer from fridge in left hand, put 1 can beer from porch in right hand. When the right handed beer is coldest....it's cold!

Ok Mombo, That is a good test, but personally, I would drink one beer from the 'fridge then drink one from the porch. I think that would give a more accurate reading..... -Todd
