Some of the old timers may remember the appearances of Krispy Kreme doughnuts here in the forums. Kind of the unofficial, official treat of the Collector Forums. Used to be when you achieved the coveted Wacko statue you were expected to bring KK's to the Saints.

I recall that at a Florida regional event there happened to be a KK next to the hotel that JJ and I were staying at. So, we picked up a dozen to take to the regional for others to enjoy. JJ also got to experience his first free doughnut right out of the fryer when the "Hot Now" sign lit up.

Those who are familiar with KK can appreciate the addictive qualities as noted in the article.

While I was stationed in New Smyrna Beach, FL and lived in South Daytona we had a KK about 4 miles from the house. Just about every Saturday night we would grab the kids, hop in the car and drive to KK about 7 PM for the "HOT" doughnuts.

You ain't lived until you put a hot KK in your mouth and let it melt "Down".

Of course you may not live long after several visits to get KK's..

Krispy Kreme shops sprung up like wildfire around Chicago 10 years ago, and have pretty much all faded away. One of the first to be built here in Elk Grove Village is still open and produces all the donuts that they sell at the grocery stores. You can still go there and get them hot, especially in the morning. I haven't in years...

Ahhh, the good old days. Do miss the KKs as all the ones I know of have also closed up. Bummer for the taste buds but good for the health.
