I see Bill got everyone worked up on the following:

"During a 15 minute televised webcast from the Convention Center, Bill disclosed that a Cape Hatteras NC "on the move" sculpture is in the works, causing a bit of apoplexy for Kim when this 'leak' was disclosed back at the booth. The Cape Hatteras lighthouse is expected to be rededicated at the new location in May, 2000."

Do we (those of us that live in North Carolina)have to cut off our right arms to get Harbour Lights to finish making the last lighthouse in our state i.e. "The not so good looking but still beautiful standing "Oak Island Lighthouse" If we are saving and moving the tallest one and thinking of honoring it with another "Harbour Lighthouse"
(I can't wait for it) why can't we do honor to the newest (1958) lighthouse - the Oak Island Lighthouse???????

I totally agree with you Richard. Lighthouse preservation is interesting but an indirect form of lighthouse history. I'd rather see Oak Island given a small niche in history than still more acknowledgements of Hatteras - which HL has done as thumbnail, ornament, GLOW, and multi-versioned LE.

I'm all for Oak Island, but let's not forget Price's Creek, just outside of Wilmington, NC. Great prospect for an event piece, in it's current state of disrepair. It would make a statement for all the lights yet to catch the public's imagination that languish in neglect.

Yes for Oak Island.

Let's not forget the keepers and the Avery Point Keeper's Memorial Lighthouse Tower, in Groton, CT. A small donation to saving this tower, dedicated to all lighthousekeepers everywhere, would also be worthwhile.

Check out more datails about this in other postings on these forums.

Your right Wacko - Price's Creek would make an excellect event pc. The only one of 8 small 20 foot high lighthouses left on the Cape Fear River. A chemical company owns the property and the site. I just wish we had a "Harbour Light Guy" on the inside to try to get this company to spend a little of its profits on one of the last "little" pieces of American History.

I think it is becoming very clear among most of the collectors. We want to have new LE lighthouses in our collections and not re-makes, re-glows, re-season, and/or re-sculpt lights. Hatteras is a GREAT LIGHT but I think its time to put it to rest as far a another one in the collection. If they make Hatteras on the move then are they going to make one of the empty spot where hatteas was? All the different pieces made of Hatteras yet we can't get a corrected version of Coquille. ????????

Hey Richard - I stole MY flag from the White House. Where'd you get yours? And what is it?

Sir John,

I stole mine from atop the great Capital Building of the North Carolina States Web Site. I guess I am going to have to get a bigger one so people can see the (N.C.) on it. I do like yours better, spent the greater part of my life fighting for it.

True, we can even make things run accross the screen.

Nice job with the waving flags and the dog chasing the ball. How'd you do that? Similar to adding a signature/logo?

Animated gifs, Ron. 'Gif' is one format for images. The animated gif is made by showing consecutive images in sequence. That's how the animated lighthouse on the page above was done.

Several programs will allow you to assemble animated gifs.

I'm not in to flag waving yet as I haven't gotten how to send a pix. BUT, I'm working on it. I did recognize the NC flag since I am a "Tar Hell" born. I'm all for the other NC lights that have not been made, being made. I have seen Prices Creek and even have done some personal campaigning with Kim by way of photos and newspaper articles about this one. There is also the Roanoke River Light that is sitting in Edenton, NC.

Hey Richard, can you teach my how to get a cat to run back and forth across the screen. The little dog is cute!! Ditto on the NC lights...would love to see more of them made by HL in the near future.

Kat,

We have gotten off the subject. I hope Sir John doesn't get mad at us.

You can do several things, but the key is you have to have a web site or link to post your (gif) etc. images onto to be able to do this.
You can do several things as you can see.
