Hey y'all,
Just picked up The HATTERAS, MOLD 1, and was reading the particulars between the white tip and the green! Outlined in the Greenbook guide! Anyway it states that the white tip, up to #160 is set apart by having a weathered looking tower paint,& sandy colored base! I'm curious, the one I have is just later than the #160, has a green tip, grey base and ALSO has the weathered look! I wasn't sure, by the way it was worded, that the Green tips should have the Weathered painting! What's your thoughts?

The weathered look is on my white tip and my base is sandy colored. Check Page 2, Volume 3 of "My Complete Guide for Harbour Lights Lighthouses" that I published and you will see that the weathered look applies to both white and dark green versions. Of course, based on the painter's preference, this may not be true for every one of them.

Hey Rich, thanks for the reply! I'm sure that is the situation! Just wanted to hear it from one of you! By the way, I was blog'n with Roland from the Cape Code Store! I believe he was referring me to you regarding this "Complete Guide"! He told me to ask You for an emailed copy? That would be wonderful for me! By the way you were mentioning it, is it posted here in the forum? If so, could you reply with a link to it? (email copy would still be wonderful) By the way, didn't you and I cross paths one time at a private sale in Mandarin a few years back, here near Jacksonville?

Yes we did. A girl and her father were selling their lighthouses. The only thing that is posted on the Forums is the product list that Harbour Lights put out.

I also sent you the 5 PDF files to your email address listed at the school. Hopefully it will get to you.

Congratulations on your Purchase of the CH-mold1. Wow that is a big step In Harbour Light collecting. That gives you bragging rights. You disappear from the forum for one year then you show up with a Ch-1.

I have never purchased one. I have always been waiting for a special deal to come my way, but it doesn’t look like that is going to happen. I have come very close in getting one. Back in 2000 I bid $550 on one that had a broken tip. I lost the bid by $30 to a bidder that already had several CH-1’s’. I think he was trying to corner the market.

In 2007 I just missed the CH1 on eBay by one hour, which went for $35 by “buy it now”. The winner of the Bid turned around and put it back on eBay to sell it for $2,200.

I had a third Chance just a couple of years ago, Harbour lights offered a single digit CH1 for retail to the first person that responded. I was the first and I purchased it for $50. It was all packed, ready to send to me when I received a phone call informing that there was a mistake and I would have to accept a consolation.

I have accepted not owning one, but I still follow eBay and the trading Post hoping for an opportunity and if I ever chance having two thousand dollars that I don’t know what to do with, the CH-1 would be my first choice.

I guess I fall in to the "right place right time" category, I bought my Ch1 green tip on a buy it now on ebay for $95.00 in August of 2012. Although it was broken during shipping (I got all my money back) I then had it professionally repaired. And also a few years ago, someone had a West Quoddy LE and a Ch2 for $70 that I also bought. And in other bargains I recently bought a Burrows, Or (error piece) for $$98.00 I think that is a good price for that but it has been a long time since I have seen one of those with competitive bidding so I really don't know what the market rate might be on that. I think the seller picked it up at an auction or garage sale and didn't know what he had since he had it listed as Burrows, Wa. in the header and description, but I could see the flag in the picture.

You are proof that there is always hope in finding a rare collectable at an affordable price. I always love to hear stories how my fellow collectors get a good deal.

I am still looking for a California mold for the CH-1, Burrows Island and the Boston Harbor. I am thankful that I have been able to find the California mold for all of the rest of the first 17.
