Top ten Harbour Lights on eBay plus two

1.Burnt Harbour Maine Lighthouse Christmas HL725---------------$351

This light had 23 bids with eleven bidders. Burn Island has been running from $ 249 to $ 320 since the fall of 2009. When the Burnt Island was first released the Dealers started to unload the Burnt Island for as low as $54.00. They thought they could make a fast buck before the rest of the dealers received theirs. Little did they know that this was going to be a fine example of proofing wrong the theory of the early bird getting the worm.

Three months later on October 8 2009, Tony revealed on the forum that Burnt Island was officially retired. Many speculations were gathered together on the forum of how this could possibly happen with today’s economy. Then on October 12, Tony then declared that the production amount for the Burnt Island was less than 750. It wasn’t long after, that many collectors realized that they missed the boat and ebay started to reflect this by Burnt Islands raising closing bids.

At this time I would say the value of the Burnt Island is easily $350 and since it had eleven bidders it could possibly climb to 500 on the next time it is on eBay. Burnt Harbour is the most sought after Christmas light being the first to surpass the infamous Big Bay.

2.Coquille River - HL 111----------------------------------$250

This light had three bids with only 2 bidders. The lighthouse is in very good condition. The bottom edge and side have some paint wear/flaking that should have not effected the price. The lighthouse includes the original white box with "Castle Studios" on the side, COA and tent card.

I feel that the seller should have had the reserve set higher. The Coquille should never go for less than $500 and its typical value is $650 to $850

3. 4 CT LOT FORT TOMPKINS NY NEVER DISPLAYED MIB----------$210

THIS IS A 4 COUNT LOT/SET OF HARBOUR LIGHTS FORT TOMPKINS, NEW YORK LIGHTHOUSES THAT REPRESENT THE FOUR SEASONS, WINTER(#657), SPRING(#652), SUMMER(655) AND FALL.(656) NONE OF THESE HAVE EVER BEEN DISPLAYED AND WERE NEVER REMOVED FROM THE ORIGINAL BOX EXCEPT FOR PICTURES. THEY COME COMPLETE WITH COA'S

I am fine with this value, but a little surprised seeing it sold as a set.
Value: $200 for set of four ($50 for each)

4.Yorktown Lightship Lens #675 2005 Numbered 343 ----------$202

Condition: New (opened and taken out for photos) in original box with original packing material. Paperwork is included as well as a Certificate of Authenticity.
Description:
Harbour Lights
Yorktown Lightship Lens
#675
2005
Number 343
Exclusively for Younger & Associates

Introduced in 2006 with an edition size of 4,000 and a retail cost of $ 110.00. Like all Fresnel lens they are very collectable and usually always sell on eBay for more than retail. I feel that this was bought for a Christmas present and sold on the high side of its value. I would put the lightship Lens value at $120 to $200. I have always said that all the Fresnel lens have a good secondary market value. One of the main reason is that there is a small amount of the different types to collect and it makes it feasible to collect them all , thus making all the len’s a collectable even the less popular ones (if there are any).

5.HL673 HEREFORD 4TH ORDER FRESNEL LENS NEW JERSERY-------$185.95

THE PIECE MEASURES APPROXIMATELY 7-1/2” HIGH X 4-1/2" WIDE X 4-1/2" DEEP AND APPROXIMATELY 12" WIDE WHEN OPENED. THE PIECE WAS ISSUED IN APRIL 2004 AND NOW RETIRED; THIS IS #73 OF 4000. THIS IS A LIGHTED PIECE AND INCLUDES AN ADAPTER; THE PIECE HAS NOT BEEN DISPLAYED, ONLY TAKEN OUT TO PHOTOGRAPH. THE PIECE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. THE PIECE COMES IN ITS ORIGINAL BOX AND C.O.A..
Value: $150 to $200

6. Point Sur CA #340, Issue #24 of 4500----------$162.42

This one is mint in original box with all original paperwork. It has never been displayed or taken out of the box except to take pictures.

I feel this one was high, with a production of 4,500, it is not that rare, but it is a double digit and that always add to the desirability. A number 24 would make a nice Christmas present.
Value: $85 (retail) to $120 for the low number.

7. Harbour Lights Keepers & Friends Accessories (HL606)-----$160

Harbour Lights Keepers & Friends Accessories. Set depicts lighthouse people working and nautical accessories. Harbour Lights # HL606. Brand new with original box and original documentations, direct from Harbour Lights.

This one really surprised me and I hate to say it but I can’t see the keepers and friends being worth $160. Granted they have been retired for eleven years and don’t come up on eBay that much, but I would put its value at retail ($55) to the most $80.

8. Boston Harbour Fresnel Lens 2nd Order #665 Limited Edition MIB-$150
Signed by Kim Andrews
With a large edition size of 5,500 the Value is $100 to $150 (retail is $85)

9.HEREFORD 4TH ORDER FRESNEL LENS #673 2004 NEW IN BOX--------$150
With a edition size of 4, 00 the Value is $150 (retail is $154) to $200

10.#HL802 UMPQUA RIVER, OR - 1ST ORDER FRESNEL LENS------------$140

Small edition size of 1,200 and most likely only 550 was made. The Umpqua Rivers is a sleeper and I can only see its value to climb.

11.#663G GOLD GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE------------------$119

Only 250 were made and its retail cost was $250. I feel that the winning bid was too low and I put its value at $150 to $200. The biggest thing that hurts its value is that it is a bridge and not a lighthouse.

12.Erie Land Light Collector's Forum Excl. #425 of only 500---- $110

This one is mint in original box with all original paperwork. It has never been displayed or taken out of the box except to take pictures.

The Forum team members that presented the Erie Land light wanted to give the forum members a collectable lighthouse that was reasonably priced and would become a valuable, desirable collectable. It looks like this is still true. Value $100 to $150

Glad to see a post of the top lighthouses selling on Ebay. Now that HLs is out of business I can sure see a upward trend of prices on EBay. Especiall for the early and last editions. Maybe the ones in the middle will start increasing as well. Thanks for the information in your post Daniel.

Too bad that the Forums are not frequented more by collectors (or at least not commented on more by collectors) to give you a warm feeling that your posts are not in vain.

Yes Daniel CR was a sweet steal and surprise at that price.
Must have been a lot of collectors sleeping for that to happen!

That was a nice blast from the past! Tahnks Daniel! The funny thing is, all the old standby big dollar Christmas pieces are at a fraction of their old selves. Big Bay, White Shoal, oh, what I paid for those way back when. Worth every penny!

Thanks for the kind words, and the response was better than I expected. Rich just found me The Key Largo and Alligator Reef. Believe or not Rich still checks out Harbour Light dealers. I was so excited that I decided to make a top ten HL on eBay. I have been very tired and sad to check the collecting forums and see no postings day after day. I knew I could make a step to help change it, but just had no desire to find the time to do it until now.

The HL market is still flooded with L.E. from 1996 to 2006. To collect any Harbour light in these years are not that expensive (except the Fresnel lens). The lighthouse from 2006 to 2008 can be more difficult to find and those from 2009 t0 2011 are even harder to find. They don’t show up that much on eBay, and have to be hunted down at dealers.
