During review of "Bill's Auction Items", it was noticed that Serial Number #1 Rose Island HL614(Full Size) and HL615(Mini) Attendee Reunion Pieces both had a "Gold Made in Malaysia" Sticker on the bottom. I looked at my Serial Number #596 of 700 HL614 and HL615 Set and my HL614 had only a White "Made in China" Sticker while my HL615 had the Gold Malaysia Sticker and White Label that said Malaysia. I then looked at my Serial Number #116 HL616 Rose Island Collector's Society Piece and it had a White "Made in China" Sticker.

A lot of questions have surfaced because of this:

1. Was the HL614(full size) actually produced in both Malaysia and China or only low serial numbers from Malaysia and higher serial numbers produced in China?
2. Did the HL615 (Mini) have the full production run in Malaysia only?
3. Was the HL616 only produced in China or were there some low serial numbers produced in Malaysia the same as the HL614 seems to have been?

Would everyone out there that has any or all of these pieces be good enough to look at them and either post or email me at flacoastie@embarqmail.com and give me the HL#, serial number and where it was produced so I can update or correct my data base?

Come on guys and gals. It will only take you a minute to check those pieces if you have them. This will allow me to make updates to the next edition of the Collectors Guide.

HL 614 flag#12 has a white label, made in China
HL 615 flag#12 has a white label, made in Malaysia
Not sure if I have HL 616, still looking. I lost my list sometime ago when we bought a new PC and my hubby failed to copy over the file. Been trying to rebuild just recently...will let you know.

Melody - Thank you very much as your low #12 having a Made in China Sticker indicates that the #1 Bill Item for HL614 makes me believe that Bill's HL614 may actually have been an Artist Proof that was numbered with a #1. If his #1 was made in Malaysia and your #12 was made in China that only leaves #2 through #11 to be made in Malaysia and I doubt that would have happened. I'll be waiting to hear about HL616.

Thanks Paul for this update.

That eliminates the theory of Bill's HL614 (clearly showing a Malaysian Sticker in the picture) being an AP if your HL614 AP was made in China.

This means that the only logical explanation to Bill's Malaysian HL614 is that it was a Paint Sample or Counter Sample produced in Malaysia and the actual production was moved to China. It also means that HLs (Bill) had this piece serialized as his #1 for his personal collection.

Some other possible solutions are that a Malaysian sticker was placed on the bottom of the piece and the China sticker was removed. Another solution is the piece was made in China and never had a sticker attached to it and someone mistakenly attached a Malaysian sticker because it was handy and used it instead of a China sticker.

Any other thoughts?

Based on the information we have so far on HL614 we know that #12 and up were made in China and that the Bill Auction #1 was either made in Malaysia, was made in China but had a Malaysian sticker attached or was a Counter Sample made in Malaysia and serialized #1 for Bill's Collection. We can also eliminate an AP being serialized #1 because Paul's AP was made in China.

This leaves us with HL614 Serial #2 thru Serial #11 as the mystery pieces and where they were made. Does anyone have Serial #2 thru #11 in their collection and if you do will you look at them and give feedback?

It is also a safe bet to believe HL615 were all made in Malaysia and HL616 were all made in China.
