We have begun our adventure, but no pictures today.. We got a late start due to one of our cats hiding under the bed.. My cousin and her hubby took over command of guarding the Midwest Harbour Lights Museum and our 3 cats.. Our 1st night stay is in Columbia, MO. Tomorrow we head towards Kansas then Colorado.. Hopefully a pic or 2 tomorrow, for sure when we get to Colorado!

Raining and cool in Colorado today, but greening everything up nicely. Saw a rainbow first thing this morning on my way to work. Enjoy your drive through "Colorful Colorado" and drive safely.

I'm jealous...still counting the days til I head out to WA, 15 days (not counting today).

Just match the letter of the caption with the letter below the image where it says description..

A. We started the day leaving Columbia, MO and guess what, it was raining very hard..

B. All the way to Kansas City, MO driving in a driving rain..

C. The rain actually slowed down as we entered downtown KC, it was mostly coming off the cars and trucks tires..

D. Still a little damp as we entered Kansas, boy you can see way down the road in Kansas..

E. Old fashion windmills have given way to windmill farms as you can see through the fog..

F. These guys are really big, they even seem bigger than the windmills in a windmill farm located North of Lafayette, IN.

G. The sun finally comes out a little as we cross the middle of Kansas..

H. Is that a slight bend in the road, as I said before you can see a long way down the road in Kansas..

I. Stick um up Partner...

J. That's really a statue of Buffalo Bill hunting Buffalo..

L. This is located in Oakley, KS (as in Annie) with Buffalo Bill won a contest with another for the right to be known as Buffalo Bill..

Do you have it all planned out, or are you meandering..stopping if you see something interesting? Looks like this is no shortage of bugs in Kansas!

M. You need lots of window washer fluid or a serious scrup down at a service station.

We are eating lunch right now at the I-70 Diner in Flager, CO, heading towards Denver then Fort Collins tonight.. On their free WiFi!!

Planned out ahead and adjusting on the way as we go, Laura. The Buffalo Bill statue we learned about at a welcome center when we stopped for gas for the car.. Tonight and tomorrow night stays just changed because it is snowing in the Rockies West of Denver..

Yes it is! It's been a record year for snow in the Rockies. Great if you ski, there is some flooding concerns when spring run-off begins.

Bypassed Denver, didn't collect $200.00.. It looked like it was raining big time in Denver so we took I470 and went directly to Fort Collins..

I will put up an image of the Diner we had lunch in today, in a little bit..

We are heading for the middle of Wyoming tomorrow then Jackson, Grand Tetons and then a couple of days in Yellowstone..

This will be 3rd trip to Yellowstone with Sue and 4th trip over all.. We have learned to stay a minimum of 2 nights there.. This will be our 1st trip there in May..

A. I wonder why those 3 cars are parked in the median...

B. Colorado knows how to make clouds!!

C. When getting close to Denver; good news, bad news, 1st the good news we see the Rockies.. The bad news, we see the storm hitting Denver and decide to turn North and head to Fort Collins for the night..

D. You just have to stop when you see a pink Cadillac in the sky..

E. The I70 Diner fit the bill on several levels; 1st the food was really good, 2nd they had free WiFi for me to change our route since the Rockies got a foot of snow last night and they expect more tonight, we are heading North to Wyoming sooner..

F. And did I mention they know how to make clouds in Colorado..

We tried out a Cambria Suites in Fort Collins last night, it is a new part of the Choice Hotel Chain.. It was very nice and has everything you need when on a business trip or just a trip.. It probably didn't hurt that it was brand new!

I put together a panorama shot of the Rockies along US191 on the way to Jackson WY.. It is comprised of 6 images and the combined file would print up at 75 inches wide X 12.5 inches tall at 300 pixels per inch.. The final uncompressed image is 240MB large!

Excellent pictures of the front range Paul. Some of the views are exactly why I live in Colorado. Now if we could just have some lighthouses and the smell of saltwater in the air it would be perfect!

It rained almost every day and was really foggy at the Tetons when we left. We entered Yellowstone through the South Gate and the quick way to the Old Faithful area was closed so we basically took a tour of the park looping around the long way.. It continued to drizzle and be overcast all day to our Lodge..

Sue got to see a Moose after breakfast, on the back of our bill for our breakfast, not what she had in mind but cute..

This is the road right after we entered the South Gate, still plenty of snow but none on the road at least..

A lot of the forest in Yellowstone is still recovering from forest fires from a few years back..

After driving for a while we finally come to an area that is almost snow free..

This Buffalo joined us at Old Faithful Geyser and Sue almost walked right into him when we were leaving after Old Faithful erupted.. It was still raining and she had her hood down over her head and I had to grab her to keep her from walking right into the

Paul, you always do such a good job with your narration and of course, your outstanding photos! It's been a long time since I've been in Yellowstone and the Tetons so I enjoyed revisiting through your eyes. Love the photos of all the wildlife and of your top notch cuisine!

Good thing you came through Missouri last week. We've spent lots of hours watching the weather and/or spending time in the basement.
