The fleecing of the public by Big Oil with the assistance of politicians. The Congress and the Senate should pass a bill stating if and when gas reaches $4 per gallon, the government will seize control and turn all profits over to registered vehicle owners. All vehicle owners will receive monthly reimbursements determined by the amount of gas/fuel they use.

Here in the high desert of Southern California, gas reached $4.21 at the corner yesterday for regular 87 octane. Not as bad as Margret has to pay, but pretty high anyway. I wasn't on the Forums yet when you were posting, Margret, but it is nice to hear an enthusiast from the United Kingdom. Filled up my company car today (GMC Arcadia). It cost $76 at $3.75 per gallon for 87 octane. The price of gas goes up then so does the cost of our services. We survive but "big oil" gets richer.

Most area stations in Jackson jumped from $3.95 to $4.17 yesterday for regular. Maybe they're trying to recoup some of their expense to clean up an expensive 100,000+ gal. gas spill recently from an underground storage tank pipe north of here.

Naw, Max, they're just being the greedy bastards we all know they are. Price is the same here. When they made the jump yesterday, some stations jumped almost 25 cents. Some moron from the attorney generals office was interviewed on the tube and when asked if they were going to look into the jump as price gouging essentially said "no, we expected the price adjustment since they had been selling at a loss". He had such a smug grin on his face I tried to look and see if the oil companies had their hand up his backside controlling what he said . . .

Something has to give sooner or later. I don't want to sound like a broken record but this is price gouging. There is no shortage. This is nothing but greed by Big Oil and speculators. The speculators are going to ruin the American Economy again while they line their pockets with record profits. Something has to be done by the government. If they don't do anything, then we need new Senators and Reps who will get the job done.

Worried about gas prices? Read this interesting article that was posted on Yahoo on Tuesday, April 26, 2011.

Yahoo Article "IMF Bombshell: Age of America Nears End"

According to the article the American economy is already GONE.....

Enough with the "Gloom and Doom", when will we see "brighter" days?

You think the price of gas is President Obama's fault, Loon? No more than the wars, deficit and recession he inherited from Bush and his oil buddies.

John, I know political discussions are not wise, but I like to keep the record straight:

I think the Bush administration is the fault for the economy/recession, wars, etc. I'm just calling out Obama cause he's in charge now!

Yesterday dropped to $4.05---just ahead of the oil companies release of 1st quarter net profits in the news (tongue in cheek Dave).

Exxon earned net income of 10.65 Billion

Royal Dutch Shell " 8.78 B.

BP " 7.2 B.

etc. and etc.

Yes John, I agree. How soon they try to get us to forget and try to blame their problems on the new administration. They
must think we suffer from memory loss.

All the flap about the Birth Certificate AFTER the President was elected, is rather like trying to put the paste back in the tube, and at this point, what difference could it possibly make? BUT IF THE CERTIFICATE THEY FINALLY PRODUCED is real, then SO IS THE TOOTH FAIRY!

People are frustrated, to say the least. The ever increasing price of gas and home heating oil is eating up their pay checks leaving nothing for fun and games. All work and no play is not a good thing.

Greedy bastards bumped it another 20 cents yesterday, so we are now at 4.39 or thereabouts. Hope the oil companies and distributors are able to pay their bills. Given the obscene profits that they are reaping I could almost support nationalization, even knowing what a fantastic job the idiots in DC would do running them . . .

Hovering around the $4 mark in my area. Many big oil brands are above four bucks for 87. Mid grade and premium grade are showing wider margins. They use to be about 10 cents in between grades. Now it's more like 15-20 cents between grades. Bye, bye economic growth! The small businesses will suffer with less traffic.

Heard today on the news that the oil dropped to around $100 per barrel about a 9% drop hope that might bring the price down. I guess we will wait and see.

I paid 3.75 cash for gas today - and when I drove by the same gas station earlier today it was 3.79 so it actually went down 4 cents.

Saw an article in todays newspaper saying that projections are for gas to go DOWN 50 cents by the end of June.

Miracles do occasionally happen.

A couple of stations went from $3.98 to $3.93 in my area. I guess it's not so much the nickel savings per gallon but rather the fact that gas actually went down a wee bit.

Go figure! I lucked out when I purchased 87 octane at $3.85 this morning instead of the $3.93 is was yesterday at the same station. I just drove by a few minutes ago, and after the price had dropped 8 cents for this morning it went up 4 cents this afternoon. I can't figure these gas stations out.

I cant figure out why it is taking so long to drop the price. It has been almost a week now that the price of oil is under $100 a barrel. The price sure goes up when they increase the price per barrel. There has been no change of price here in Delaware. It is still around $3.95.9.

I think it's the 'inventory rule'.

When the prices go up, they raise 'em at the pump and all the fuel in the underground tanks get valued higher.

But when they lower prices, they have to sell all the 'more expensive' gas in the tanks at the higher price before they can lower the pump prices.

Cumberland Farms dropped to $3.87 overnight yesterday. The next door Sunoco followed suit. The cheapest of the cheapos had 87 octane for $3.81, cash only. The big oil brands get cute and charge 10 cents more per gallon if you use your credit card.

Paul - I would be willing to bet the difference in the prices is due to the amount of state taxes applied.

Cumbie's dropped to $3.79 yesterday. I went up to the local Shell Station with my Stop & Shop Supermarket Card and got 60 cents off a gallon on 89 octane. Instead of paying $4.15 a gallon, I paid $3.55. Truck took 24 gallons so that was a good savings.

Holding at $3.79 for 87 octane at Cumbies. I would like to see it go lower but I'm glad it hasn't gone higher with the holiday weekend coming fast.

They had it down to between 3.62 and 3.67 (depends on store) before the dirt bags took a 30cent greed bump today. If the jerks did something positive with the exorbitant profits they make on these greed bumps I could maybe understand a little. Capitalism is good, but this just becomes highway robbery.

Of course it went up - Memorial Day weekend! Gotta cash in on people trying to travel to have a relaxing 3-dayer. I paid $3.79 for 85 octane on Tuesday.

I bought at 3.99 last night, the first time I've seen it below $4.00 in some time.

Does anyone know what the prices are in Washington State? Flying out next weekend before the cruise.

A local rock station had a radio remote with a local gas station/convenience store yesterday for their 4 year Memorial weekend anniversary celebration!

All gas prices for 3 hours-$3.50 gallon!! Cars were lined up for the 3 hours! Extreme long lines! We waited in line for 15 minutes to fill up! Returned to the $3.99 after the special!

Last year the price of a gallon of gas was $1.99 during the anniversary special! That price now seems cheap!!

Do you remember what price you paid for a gallon of gas when you started to drive??

First fill-up in my 1971 Mustang: .48 a gallon!!

Cheapest gas I ever remember buying was $0.19 during a 'gas war'.

That was back in the days when the major intersections had 3-4 gas stations on each corner.

And it wasn't self serve. I liked that in New Jersey and Oregon.
