Congratulations to Tony for developing this 20 year celebration for Harbour Lights collector and championing it to make it happen.

And Congratulations to Harry Hine for the fantastic job of executing these very special, very limited editions!

To all those lucky enough to be cruising in June -- I wish a safe journey to and from Washington and a bon voyage for the trip to Alaska.

Wish I could join you.

P.S. Fantastic photography, Paul!!

For those who like to know the sizes, I added them to the individual images..

They really look great displayed together as the group picture shows..

You can always tell the feeling you have for these lights, Paul, because these aren't simply pictures. They are glamor shots taken with great care to show how wonderful they really are! You are so valuable to all of us who love these lights, even though we complain about them too! Thank you again. And taking the time to put the measurements on them is just that much better!

I loaded larger images up to Acrobat.com of the lighthouses as PDF files and sent the link to Tony for Harbour Lights to share with those going on the Cruise. I figured I might as well post the link here. I stored it in a public location so you can see and download them without needing a password..

Alaska Lighthouses PDF link

You will need to scroll to see all three and you can zoom larger or smaller..

I just want to post this here also in case it was not read in the General Forum. I feel it is very important, in my opinion, for everone to read.

"This is the perfect lead in to what I want to post. This may be controversial and upset some, but, it also may be what others are thinking and don't want to ask.

I have been an avid collector of Harbour Lights Lighthouses since early 1994 when I bought my first lighthouse, Ponce De Leon Inlet. Since that time my collection has grown to include all of the limited editions and all but three of the first 38 releases and their many variations. I also have, thanks to many fantastic collectors, both past and present, all of the Special Reunion Replicas and Thumbnails.

My wife Amy's serious back problem leaves us no alternative to make these reunions or even go on vacations. In a split second her back could go out and she wouldn't be able to get out of bed, get off a couch or get in or out of a car. This usually results in a trip to the ER for medication. I will not leave her so I have resigned myself to not go to these reunions. I'm sure there are many other collectors in the same situation with health, unemployed, college, house payments and just a lack of funds to make this Alaskan Cruise.

Thanks to my many friends that I've met, or communicated with, I have been fortunate enough to have these special Runinion pieces in my collection. If you know of anyone that can't go, or you want to buy your second set of these special Alaskan Cruise lighthouses and sell them to these collectors, advertise them in the Trading Post Forum. If you are a collector that can't make the cruise, then post that you are willing to buy someone's extra set so they can contact you.

You say "It ain't fair to us that are going on this cruise and have to spend the money for the cruise to get our set and why should we buy a second set to sell to someone not making the cruise". You should feel blessed that you are fortunate enough to be able to go and should be happy to pass your good fortune on to others that can't attend. This is all I have to say on this subject and I want to say thank you again for the collectors, past and present, that have allowed me to proudly say "I have them all"."

Well Said, Rich. I'm sure others are thinking the same, as you've noted.

The idea of posting your desire in the Trading Post is a good one.

Those who are going, you'll have to contact the potential buyer and negotiate your price.

From Tony's post, I'd say they have ordered a certain number of sets and may not be able to order more. So if you want to be a buyer of extras you'll have to follow his specific schedule and instructions as posted above.

Because you can't know for certain that you WILL be able to buy extras until the set date. It would NOT be appropriate to have any transfer of funds until the potential seller has received confirmation that their request was accepted by Harbour Lights.

These are great looking pieces. Harry, Tony, and everyone at Harbour Lights has done an outstanding job as expected.

Best wishes for a great reunion cruise, I'm very disapointed to not be able to attend. For more info on why, please see my Trading Post post.

Please take lots of pictures and post lots of good stories of your adventure!

I sure don't have a problem with people selling their 2nd set to people who can't make it on the Cruise..

I would be two-faced if I said I had a problem since I sold extra sets of lights of the 1st three Reunions; the three extra New Point Loma's helped fill out my collection with some of the hard to get Southern Belles...

I dont agree with only the people who attend the reunion can purchase a second set. I think that leftover ones should be available to whoever wants one by collectors who did not make it to the reunion. This could be done by a lottery drawing for the ones that were interested and would have to sumit their request by a certain date. Just a thought does anyone else have any ideas?

Hal --

I'm not disagreeing with you. I think your idea is a good one.

At the 1997 Reunion in San Diego attendees could pre-order up to 2 per person. But many couples only ordered 1 or 1 each. This was going to make this a very rare piece and the secondary market was HOT at the time.

At the Reunion event, Kim announced that if you didn't order the amount you were entitled to (2 per person) you could request more and they would be produced and mailed later. I don't know how many additional ones were ordered. The production quantity was 950. Page 221 Collector's Guide.

I do know that Warren Diamond owned 54 New Point Lomas by the time the reunion was over. He traded and bought pieces from other attendees.

You may remember that at the 1998 Reunion in Providence a second version was made available to non-attendees who were Collectors Society members.

It had a different product number and it was missing some details. 900 were made of the Event Exclusive; 6,086 were made of the Society version. Page 274 in the Collectors Guide.

If nearly 7,000 of any light are made, what would be the point of calling it 'exclusive' at all? C'mon, guys! Over the years, the 'extras' always end up on the market anyway, and tho I have paid alot for many of them, every once in a while I have gotten very lucky. If there are no really 'SPECIAL' lights made for these events, why would those of us who can't go, eat our hearts out? You have all complained about your lights not being worth anything. Part of the reason for that is, in the past, too many were made for them to be 'rare'. Well...

Only 360 sets for this event is Pretty Special.. The last Reunion in 2005 the number of Waugoshance lights went back to 450 produced; once more Pretty Special..

I agree, Paul, the number produced makes these Cruise Lights very special. I'm just saying we should be careful what we wish for.

June 10 is rapidly approaching and several Forum members are already on the road "North to Alaska"(apologies to Johnny Horton)! I can't describe how jealous frustrated I am to not be going with you. This was a trip that was on my "bucket list" of things to do in retirement! Unfortunatly health issues have severely limited my travel and lighthousing plans!
My best wishes waytogo go out to all the cruisers on the trip! I wish you all good weather and safe travel and am looking foward to many reports, here in the Forums, of your great Alaskan lighthousing adventure. cheers cheers
Be safe and have a great time!!

Rick, I too am sorry that you will not be able to make this trip but I do appreciate your well wishes for the rest of us. You take care of yourself and hopefully you will be able to go on another trip in the near future. Take care... sm_d
