June was the former Director of the Old Michigan City Historical Society.. She served for more than 30 years with the Society. She was instrumental in working with the Hoosier Lighthousing Club when we got the Club 1st started and put a list of 21 things together she wished the Club could get done at the Old Michigan City Lighthouse/Museum.. We finished 20 of them before she retired in October of 2004..
Here is an image of June and I as we placed the brass ball atop the stairs to the Old Michigan City Lantern Room. Her biggest wish on her wish list was to make it up to the Lantern Room at the Lighthouse/Museum..
The stairs became a big priority of the Club for June to get her wish..
It is sad to hear that such a wonderful person like June has passed...the Hoosier Lighthousing Club has so much to be proud of to have made her a very happy woman to be able to place the brass ball atop the stairs to the Old Michigan City Lantern Room...I'm sure this wonderful woman will be missed but her memory will live on.
Very sad to hear this. June will be missed. It's so great to read about her work with the Old Michigan City lighthouse.
"Gone But Not Forgotten" doesn't just refer to the lighthouses, but to those who worked in them and for them like June.

Our very first work weekend at MC, June was pretty overwhelmed by what we accomplished. Whenever she saw me she said that we were angels for all that we accomplished. I know that she realized that we were having fun and loving the chance to actually help take care of a lighthouse, but she expressed her gratitude at every opportunity.
I remember the first set of post cards that were given to the historical society to sell - June was somewhat choked up and kind of in disbelief.
She gave her very best effort to the lighthouse, and we are honored to continue to give our best effort to the light.
Wonderful story, Great woman! "Donations to the LH in her memory." Sounds like you guys had a lot memorable experiences which explains your devotion to MCLH.
