We started this map a couple of years ago to pinpoint the locations of USA Lighthouses Lightships and Life Saving Stations some time ago. You can click on the map and add other locations if you wish or use the map to plan your travels along America's shores. Click to view map

John, some have been moved. Check Cape Disappointment and North Head.

It could be that both these markers are in the wrong place. Cape D is very near the end of the peninsula. North Head is right on the coast.

It's easy to participate in this collaborative map. There are about 150 lights currently on the map. There are hundreds more to place. Click to view map Zoom in on the map to an area where you expect to find a lighthouse and select satellite view. Depending on the scale of the aerial/satellite photos, you can probably see the lighthouse in the photograph. Click on the EDIT button in the window on the left. Click on the blue push pin that appears within the view window and then drag it to the location of the lighthouse. Type the name of the lighthouse in the TITLE window, Type "Placed by "+your name in the larger text window the title. Click on SAVE and then DONE (same location as the EDIT button.)

Note that enough lights have been added to spill over to a 2nd page/map. If you are looking for a particular lighthouse, be sure to look at both pages.

Added Kauhola Point HI. Even though the tower was taken down in December, 2009, the google maps image of the site still shows the tower as of today.
Added Bald Head Island and Oak Island NC.
All added to page 2 of the map site list.
