Not just the carol, but a particular artist's rendition ... For me, number one is "Do You Hear What I Hear?" by Mr. Crosby followed by James Taylor's "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas"
"Wisdom and Strength are NOT opposing values"

There are so many wonderful Christmas songs that bring back childhood memories of past Christmas' gone by. My favorites have always been the old standards done by singers from the generation before mine. Somehow the cover songs done by today's artists cannot compare to the work of those artists who have gone before us. Bob

There are many that are my favorites, but mostly traditional ones like: "The Christmas Song" and one by Gordon Lighfoot: "Song For A Winter's Night" and of course: "Dominick The Donkey" http://members.shaw.ca/cybernana/funpage/dominick/dominick.htm

Too many to narrow down to just one, but some of my favorites are; Silent Night Let IT SNOW Just about anything from Bing Crosby, Mitch Miller or Burl Ives. Speaking of Burl Ives, does John C's face pop into your mind whenever you hear a Burl Ives song? Does to me (ans proably will to you now as well) Must be the beard or the jolly demeanor Mike

Listening (and humming) to Kenny G's saxaphone rendition of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" as I write this--it's a toss-up between that one and Little Drummer Boy. Sandy

Anything sung by Karen Carpenter is good.
For humorous, I like "Walkin' Round in Women's Underwear" (tune is Walking in a Winter Wonderland) by Bob Rivers.

There are many Religious classics that I just love but I get a real connection to my childhood Christmas's listening to Gene Autry "Rudolph The Rednose Reindeer." I picked up the cd on ebay last year along with some Andy Williams. Bob

How about "I'll Be Home For Christmas"? That's an oldie but goodie. (Kind of a strange choice for me as this is the first year ever that I won't be home for Christmas. In a weak moment I agreed to accompany I.O. to his daughter's in Albany, leaving Christmas Eve and returning the day after Xmas. So when the Eve turns into the Day I'll be in a Super 8 Motel.....)

"The Christmas Song" sung by Nat King Cole at any time of the year, hands down, going away favorite.
"O Holy Night" As a 6th grader I was in the Boy's Choir of 5th and 6th graders at our school. We sang all over town and I was the soloist on "O Holy Night." The voice sure has changed. The teacher wanted me to apply for the Vienna Boys Choir, should have done it.

Bob, you took the words right out of my mouth. Nat King Cole's rendition of "The Christmas Song" (aka "Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire")is my all time favorite, as well. "O Holy Night" is my favorite religious carol. You must have had some voice to be the soloist for THAT one. And for your teacher to feel that you were Vienna Boys Choir material - wow! I'll bet you still have a pretty good singing voice.

Grace, you wouldn't believe what 20 years of refluxing into your sinuses every night while sleeping can do to your singing voice. My daughter now has all the musical talent in the family.

Bob, my daughter got to see the Vienna Choir Boys in Vienna several years ago. Well, the group that was there anyway. Seems they have several groups that rotate singing around the world but there's always one group that "stays home". She got me a CD of them which I generally play around Christmastime.

I'd say anything by Bing Crosby because that man's voice IS Christmas to me...
But to be specific, I'd have to say: Carol of the Bells Little Drummer Boy (the one with Bing Crosby and David Bowie) The Holly and the Ivy (new to the list this year)
