HL 443 Yaquina Head, OR (GLOW): His head is sticking up out of the waves about 1-1/2 inches southwest of the nameplate.

Rock, http://www.harbourlightsarchives.com/seahorses/ Please use this link to determine if what you're about to post has already been posted and is on the Harbor Lights Archive site for Seahorses, as well as do a search on this site to see if someone else has located the seahorse already. I'm importing those you've listed recently into this thread to keep them all together and ask that you continue listing whatever ones you find here in this thread. Do not post them separately as you've been doing as that causes maintenance problems. Just remember to include the name and HL number within the text. HL 315 Hereford Inlet: He's in the brick alcove under the stairs to the left of the flagpole at the back of the house. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HL 299 Point Reyes, CA: He's in the water at the base of the sculpture almost exactly halfway between the tower and the smallest outbuilding. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HL 327 Cape Arago, OR: With the tower facing you, look in the water directly below the single door and about an inch to the left...he's there but easily camouflaged by the waves. HL 247 Eldred Rock, AK: This guy is poking his head up above the waves about an inch to the right of the nameplate. NOTE: corrected as to edition number--HL 257 (SDJ--2/27/07) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HL 340 Point Sur, CA: With the nameplate in the cliff facing you, he's in the water's edge to the left about a quarter-inch before it blends into the rocks. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HL 242 Round Island, MS: THEN: he's disguised himself pretty well as part of the grass, curled up against the base of the bush at the end of the fence behind the storage shed. NOW: this one is tough...need some help here...I think part of him is in the bushes amongst the rubble on the beach...but I could be wrong... HL 689 Waugoshance, MI: He's in the water beneath the chimney, about a quarter inch to the right. CHL 101 Halfway Rock, MI: Another tough one...as far as I can tell, the crude little dude is curled up in the darkest part of the rocks a good inch to the left of the nameplate...but I could be wrong... I'm going to confirm Rock's location and add the following:
Right-facing head and tail are very crude; fan is not discernible.

Copying this from an earlier posting:
HL303 (Cape Flattery) From 'Captain Shawn', our newest member.
"The seahorse for HL303 is at the rear of out building with red roof. The seahorse is in the yellow bush material at left rear and is facing down."

Nobody's posted this as yet, so. . . .
HL 346 Grand Island East Channel, MI Left-facing, prone, nose-down seahorse is at grass edge, just right of multi-colored bush in back of lighthouse. Same color green as grass. Only left side of head is obvious.

posted 07-12-2006 09:02 AM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have Seul Choix. I looked at it again and it's not a well sculpted easy to identify seahorse. It looks kind of like a sea horse on the top of the purple bush that is on the right hand side of the keeper's house. I thought I found one on the Bailey's Harbor piece...but I couldn't find it this morning when I looked. Maybe it went out for breakfast. If I relocate it-I'll let you know.

Debbie, Were you referring to HL 349, Seul Choix, MI when you posted the above? I'm questioning it because I just received the just-released sculpture and you wrote the above on 7/12/2006. The seahorse is very obvious and not difficult to see. I've found the seahorse on this piece and will post its location if someone else doesn't get to posting it before I do. Additional to above: I read the complete thread where this posting occurred and determined that Debbie was referring to LLOMs, not LEs. Note to John C.: when I searched for both Seul Choix and MI lighthouses on the HL site Product History page, there were no results--?? Sandy

HL-347 Isle of Shoals, NH - With the tower towards you, follow the stairs of the keepers house to the orange bush at the top of the rocks. Seahorse is right under the bush at the top of the rocks.

Bert/Sharon, Can you give more detailed instructions? I can't see anything resembling a seahorse under the orange bush in front of the stairs of the dwelling. What color(s) is the seahorse? Is the head and/or body apparent? Does the head and/or tail face right or left? Is it right side up or upside down? Is it lying on its right or left side, or is it upright? Any additional detail you can provide would be very helpful. The one I found (and haven't posted yet) isn't anywhere near where you found yours and Stan's suggesting that I have a very vivid imagination to be seeing the one I think I'm seeing. Sandy

If you hold the piece with the tower towards you, keep the purple flowers at the base of the tower at eye level. Look at the orange bush at the bottom of the stairs. Just below the bush there is a crevace. The seahorse looks like it would be the roots of the bush in the crevace. It is facing left and the upper body is quite clear. I've included an image to help.

Looks like the seahorse is in the bush at the back of the tower under the window to the left of the outhouse. At the left end of the bush looking right out at you. I hope someone can verify this as I'm not 100% positive, but it sure looks like it.

HL 346 Grand Island East Channel, MI. Hold the piece at eye level looking at the lighthouse backdoor between the tree and the bushes. Seahorse is in the bush on the left, green and yellow in color, midway top to bottom.

Bob, I posted a description of the seahorse location for HL 346, Grand Island East Channel, MI on February 27th, but you appear to have located another one and yours is much more obvious than mine. Ironically, my location is just below yours. I still "see" a left-facing, prone, nose-down seahorse at the grass edge, just right of the multi-colored bush in back of the lighthouse. She's the same color green as the grass and only the left side of her head is obvious. I'm going to add that the "fan" on her back is also obvious. My seahorse is very small and very crude compared to the one you've found. So, until someone "in the know" tells us otherwise, I'm going to say that HL 346, Grand Island East Channel, MI has two seahorses. Your description of the seahorse location for HL 349, Seul Choix, MI is right on with the location description that I posted to my inventory. Don't go too far from your magnifying glass my friend--keep up the good work!! Sandy

Earlier in this thread, I copied a location for a seahorse location for Cape Flattery, HL 303 as provided 'Captain Shawn', a newer member:
"The seahorse for HL303 is at the rear of out building with red roof. The seahorse is in the yellow bush material at left rear and is facing down."
I recently purchased this piece from eBay and find a different location than Shawn's and can't locate his "find". If he can be more specific and possibly post a picture, maybe this piece has two seahorse locations. My location is:
In water below water tank next to gray-roofed oil house. She's upright, facing left and is same 2-colors as waves.

I've found the seahorses on:
HL 350, Annisquam Harbor, MA, HL 558, New Castle Rear Range, DE, HL 697, Racine Reef, WI, and HL 722, Hospital Point, MA.
Anybody else looking for them?
Does anyone know if a seahorse is on any of the historic buildings, i.e., Old North Church?

HL 350 Annisquam Harbor, MA. 1½” right of flag, ½” left of walkway to tower. Left-facing head & torso colored to blend into cliff. Body would be in water if it were visible.
HL 558 New Castle Rear Range Light, DE. Only left-facing head & upper torso are visible. Multi-colored bush & green bush against dwelling behind tree & flag. She’s green in color & nose touches multi-colored bush.
HL 697 Racine Reef, Wisconsin. Just left of flag. Only very crude left-facing head and neck are visible. White in color to look like wave coloration.
HL 722 Hospital Point, MA. 1½” right of electrical plug, upright left-facing seahorse is same gray color as cliff. Back of head almost touches snow.
Bert/Sharon (MtnHkr): I can't confirm your sighting on HL 557, New Castle Front Range, DE. Would you post a picture?

Lime Kiln, WA (HL 341): 3" left of flag is an upright, left-facing head and curved tail embedded in wave. 1-1/2" below barrel at right corner of dwelling, rear of building.
Sodus Point, NY (HL 351): 1" right of flag--upright, left-facing tan-colored seahorse is embedded in cliff.
New London Harbor, CT (HL 352): 1-1/4" right of flag--upright, left-facing gray-colored seahorse is embedded in cliff, just below green bush.

Hi Sandy, This is the best I can do for a picture. I've made notes as to where I believe the head and belly are. If I'm right the seahorse is looking straight out at you.

MtnHkr, Should be able to see her profile if I turn the piece and look between the tree and the tower, but I don't see that. Nevertheless, until somebody finds the seahorse elsewhere on the piece, we'll go with your description 'cause I've scrutinized this piece with both a magnifying glass and a dental mirror and found nothing.
