Hey,

Does anyone else think there are 2 seahorses on Burrows Island, HL108? I see one just below the window, to the side of the box, and one on the back side of the building, just to the left of the sign on the wall, in the grass. What do you think??

Keweenaw,

I can't "see" either of the ones you've found. The location description posted to my inventory reads
Quote:
½" to the left of the wooden box under the window in the grass
, but I got that from HL's website when they were keeping it updated. I never checked whether that description actually worked until today and I can't see it.

However, I did find what looks like a very crude seahorse in the grass at the back of the house, but at the left corner of the house (not near the sign). The upright seahorse's head faces left; its almost uncurled tail faces right. It's located in the grass, the base of the body almost touches the tan sand base.

Let me know what you think.

Sandy

Sandy,

Yes, you've found the "unlisted" one that looks like a seahorse to me. The one that is recognized as the seahorse is also as crude, and is actually directly in front of the box, just as the ground starts to curve upward to meet the brown painted area. Look at it holding the piece so that the tower is at your left, and you're looking over the roof to the ground.

I do believe Harry told me a few years ago that the Cedar Keys lighthouse was the first lighthouse with more than one seahorse... I will check with him the next time I talk to him..

Keweenaw,

Ah ha! I see what I, too, believe is a 2nd one using your description. Both are equally crude, but both are equally visible.

Paul,

If Harry says only Cedar Keys had more than one seahorse, is it possible that somebody slipped it in like those initials on Pemaquid and Bald Head?

I'm also having difficulty finding the 9th and 10th seahorses on Cedar Keys (see previous topic). Can you be more specific as to locations?

Thanks,
Sandy

I will try to go through all ten this weekend, as you know I am in the middle of a project that has consumed most of my time..

I will copy your list and add the others.. One I had to use a dental mirror to shoot the image if I remember correctly..

I used the same mirror to shoot the one behind the boat on HL's Southeast Block Lighthouse...

Paul,

Think I recognized not only the dental mirror, but the seahorse as well.

Deadlines always drove me out of my mind when I worked in the printing trade, so I hear you--loud and clear!!

I'm off to Lake Superior on August 1st and returning on August 21st, so if you don't get to the location(s) before then, I'll catch up when I get home.
