Is it better than a SD ultra II or III (Sandisk). I am thinking if I bought this I would propably have problems with photo shop. Every time I upgrade something it dosnt work some way with my computer. My camera does support this new card. I cant imagine how long it will take to download pictures. Plus The Sandisk Ultra II is so cheap and this week it is cheaper at Costco 2 Gig at $22.00. The 4 gig is on sale for about 49.00
Any thoughts confused

I do believe I recall your traveling companion on your upcoming Michigan trip sharing with us that the smaller disks were preferable to her. If one takes a hit or gets lost you only lose part of a trip or shoot, not the whole event. With that philosophy I would go with the 2 gig cards. Seems to me there was an incident with her original DSLR and the water at White River one winter day.......

Yes you are correct but the reason she used the smaller cards were to burn CD on the apacer and it would not hold more at the time. That is also a problem I bought the new apacer almost a year ago and now the 2007 cards do not work on that either. Trying to fight Apacer for warranty. It is usless to me now. Its the same SD 2 gig I bought last year Everything is made to be thrown out not fixed

Isn't that the truth. It's called "planned obsolescence". It's cheaper to buy a new one than to salvage the one you have. It's no wonder landfills fill up so quickly.

 Bob

FYI: Its illegal (at least here) to throw away computer equipment anymore. It MUST be recycled.

Also find out if you camera and reader is fast enough to handle a III version. Most likely its a waste of money to go beyond a II.

IMHO, anything greater than a 1 or 2G card is a risk. Like it was stated previously, how much do you want to lose, part or all. What size I use also depends on how many megapixels the camera takes. My D2H (4Mpxl) uses only a 1G, my D2Xs (12Mpxl) uses up to a 2G. I can go larger but why risk it?

I used to tell my telecommunication engineering classes that when they purchased any electronic equipment (cameras or computers) they were only buying the latest antique available.

How true. More now than ever before. Remember when you bought a new TV? All you had to do was plug it in.

FYI: The Sandisk Extreme III's are on a mega-rebate sale through tomorrow. I just got a 2gig in prep for Saturday's cruise - normally $40, now $25 from B&H.

Cheaper than the Ultra II right now!

I've been waiting for these Extreme rebate sales every couple months...and then buy a 1 or 2 gig. It's worth the wait.

BTW, check if your D80 will work with anything over 2gig. I know that Nikon doesn't recommend it for my D50, but seeing as the D80's a bit newer, it might.

Thanks Costco now has a sale for Ultra II for about 22 or 23 I think. Going to get me some. I do not want to deal with something new again and figuaring out how to use new stuff on photo shop.
